Yep, this is about where I stand as well, I'd love to see him back in an Arsenal shirt, but we can't afford to pay him ludicrous wages.

I don't think he'd necessarily take ESRs place though, when Arteta played with him Ramsey played CM, and I'd imagine that's where he sees him. A midfield three of Partey, Ramsey and ESR could work in theory, since all three work really hard, Ramsey and Partey won't be overrun by anyone and they all look for progressive passes. That said, I don't think this will happen and I'd rather look for a proper DLP to replaxe Xhaka.

Ramsey is Arsenal’s player of the 2010s. But he’s also a frequently injured, overpaid, ageing player. Why would we want to sign that player. If he had zero Arsenal connection, why would you sign that player?

Because he's pretty good. Because we lack quality in midfield. Because we never replaced his goals. And he's still only 30. As I said, I'd rather sign someone else and I'm not exactly advocating the club does it, but depending on contract length, wages and how Arteta plans to use him, he could turn out to be a good signing.

IMO he could play as either CAM in the 4231 or as CMA in a 433. He'd certainly offer a goal threat in the final 3rd and an extra body in the area.

What makes this intriguing for me is that Arteta was his Captain as a player, so it should be about more than just his AFC connection and his capabilities. I'd hope Arteta would be able to get the best out of Ramsey that he never really achieved other than for those few months.

don't see him happening though as whenever he's played for Juve he's put on a decent performance, and he'll make more than enough appearances for them. If he ever rejoins it'll be purely sentiment. I don't see us paying wages we weren't prepared to pay before.

He’s played half as many minutes and games as Ronaldo, Bonucci and Danilo. It’s the same story as last season. He barely played. And then he would have the occasional top top quality game. I remember he was excellent against Sassualo just before the Covid break.

As a team we have suffered enough from volatility introduced by oft-injured (Wilshere, Ramsey, etc) or inconsistent and unreliable players (Mustafi, Luiz). We need to kill this. Holding is not even half the player Ramsey is, but I would rather a healthy Holding on my team than a shot at Ramsey. I hate the idea of paying big bucks for instability. It’s shit management

Loved Ramsey, but we should stay away. Injuries have been the reason for our fading title challenges in the past. We didn't have an abnormal number of injuries because of our training methods as has been cited in the past but because we had too many injury prone players. We need to replace Ramsey, we haven't done it yet. Getting him back isn't the solution.

Yeah, he was unreliable in his prime, never mind now that he's aging. He'd spend 1/3 of the season injured, 1/3 trying to recapture some form and 1/3 he'd look so good he'd lull you into thinking he'll be great next year.

He's also a bit like Pepe in that he's not really someone you can pop in and out of the team, in order to perform he needs to be loved and he needs to be given a big role, otherwise he'll just frustrate.

And super casual in the smaller games. He was the master of the shit pass a yard behind someone in the middle of the pitch to take all the speed out of the counter in the middle of the pitch. And then pull of a sublime pass in the final 3rd.

Ramsey would be our second best midfielder if we signed him but we need to think bigger and more long term. And there is no point saying "give him Willians wages", we could give those wages to someone at a good age who'd bring as much to table either.

Anyway for what its worth, he hasn't played well in a midfield 2 for a long long time now. At Juve he is a 3rd mid fringe player with other CMs protecting and doing all the dirty work for him.

Whenever I watch Mckennie or Barella, I realised how flawed Ramsey's game is as a B2B. Too one dimensional and too many loose touches to ever be a great.
