Grealish is outstanding. He really is and unfortunately out of our league I think. Would be an insane coup if we pull it off but I don't see it happening.
The media narrative is shifting and if we finish mid-table (most likely at this stage) and behind Villa this season public perception of our club will dip considerably. English pundits will call it a sideways move and so will his coaches in the England set-up. This will impact his decision making and probably result in him not pushing too hard for a move which will put us in a difficult space from a negotiations stand point. If a more successful club comes in, the media narrative will be different and it will be posed as once in a lifetime opportunity. Villa will be seen as the bad guys for holding him against his will. Whereas with us, them holding out will be seen as the right thing to do in the circumstance. Just like the difference in reporting when it came to Suarez moving to us from Liverpool vs Suarez moving to Barcelona.
With his profile, the expectation would be that he joins a City, Liverpool or United in my opinion.
