Grealish. Maddison is good and comes across really well but Grealish has star quality about him. I can see him playing in big CL games for us. Be the player that Gazza (most reminds me of him) could have become.

Think Grealish is a leader as well. If we ever managed to do it would be an amazing signing not going to lie. We would also get more leeway from ref’s as he’s England’s next big thing (if not already).

grealish. has more of that alpha dog one man wrecking crew energy, whereas maddison shines in a well oiled Leicester team but may not translate to a new team

This = IMO the squad is still not 'complete' in order to be spending mega bucks on a top player, let alone that we may not have UCL.
I'd also suggest we also have more players to get out the door as a priority before we spend on luxury.

Maddison has done so for Norwich before he joined LCFC, however IIRC there was an 'issue' in that his assists were 'padded' as a result of his taking set pieces, and a number of goals scored from wide crosses rather than through balls or passes into the area?

I'd much rather focus the resources on filing the missing pieces in our squad - CM partner for Partey, striker to replace Lacazette and someone who can rotate with ESR. Given how he is coming along, I'd rather get someone like an Odegaard or VdB or Pellegrini who can rotate with ESR and genuinely give both an opportunity to develop and may the better AM prevail. Given the reality of our finances and the inability to adequately monetize our excess assets like Xhaka, Torreira and Guendouzi, I think this is inadvisable.

Interesting trivia - Grealish’s Dad is called Kevin and he has a brother call3d Kevan. That’s a bit weird.

I too wouldn’t spend big on one player. I think we need to spend smart in the summer on 2-3 key players. Might be another loan in there as well. Our finances will rely substantially on crowds in the stadium.

From what I read he was speaking more generically, i.e. we have a few big targets in mind (which he doesn't know the names of) but Odegaard is a potential backup option.

I'd take Grealish too fwiw, he has more end product and variation to his game. He's also more capable of playing on the LW, so we could in theory field this team:

All this talk about Grealish, could we even afford him? Given that he's English, I'd imagine Aston Villa could really hold out for mega-bucks. What's his contract situation like? Not to mention that he's probably got a lot of good teams that are after him.

Yup. He just signed a new deal, unless there's a secret clause in there my guess is he'd cost north of £70m.
