Wouldn't mind if we passed on Tierney. Always had a soft spot for Celtic but if they want to play tough and get some PR off of us they can go fuck themselves. Tierney is good but no Marcelo, absolutely no reason for us to be putting up with all this bitching. 20m or fuck off and keep an unhappy player, see how that'll play out for you in the future

I think it's Arsenal and not Celtic that are being difficult here though. We have no obligation to buy if they set the price too high, sure, but they're certainly not obligated to sell him for less than what they think he's worth either.

Personally I feel we should just pay them at this stage. You don't have to accept the first quote you get, but spending months haggling over £5 million when so much is at stake if we fail to land him is not on. You have to overpay a little sometimes to get good players, and if Tierney is good enough to start for us then he's particularly appealing to me since he's also able to play centreback. We could let Monreal leave knowing that he's been replaced in full.

What’s annoying is I keep saying a bird in the hand but it’s true. We’ve gone on tour after a season when we conceded 51 goals in the league. A normal team would’ve tried to root out this evil immediately. They would’ve identified the centre back and left back immediately. It is claimed we have 45m. Diallo went for 29m. We should’ve gone for him. And then we should’ve gone Tierney for the rumored 25m. That puts us over. But there must be a healthy market for Chambers. That would’ve been easy to deal with after the fact though. Our defense is what cost us last year more than anything. It should’ve been attacked mercilessly

PSG signed Diallo though. I like him too, but it would have been very difficult to get ahead of them.

I agree we need players back there as priority, though, but I think Tierney is the first pick at left back and is still injured, and a really good centreback, in my opinion, is hard to come by.

I'm not sure that's true. The club tabled a first bid which was below their valuation - fair enough. We bid a second time closer to their valuation and they still wont move despite the player being eager to move - questionable. Third bid and they bitch about the structure and bonuses - fuck off. What are Celtic going to do with the extra two million quid anyway? There are three trophies in Scotland and they already have their name on them for the next five years, and the extra money isnt going to get them anyone who's watching this farce or a transfer saga for a local kid who told the club he wishes to move for bigger things.

People need to relax. All this stalemate talk is coming from journos who are on the tour so its possible they've been briefed with certain infos. Failing that, john cross is generally never right about anything anyway

As for diallo, well we missed our chance to get him. He would've been attainable before going to dortmund, and there were even people on here who were aware of him at the time. Seems like another miss by the club

Not so sure. There were a lot of Zagadou rumors all through June. Then they suddenly disappeared and Diallo was sold to PSG. Maybe Zagadou was on the block and PSG put in an offer Dortmund couldn’t refuse. I believe if we had been proactive and acted as soon as Dortmund signed Hummels, we would’ve been golden. We aren’t on the ball. You just have to look at how all our signings are dragging out and how we’ve made a mess of Koscielny.
