Did he not have a good season? Why have Dortmund sold him for virtually what they bought him for a year ago?
Just saw 32m Euros. I'm fuming.
So I suspect that they sold him because it did not make sense to try to develop 3 20-23 year old centre backs simultaneously. Last year, Dortmund suffered relative to their peers because they had a relatively inexperienced backline. It always made sense this off-season that they would bring in an experienced centre back and then offload one of their 3 young centre backs. They've brought in Hummels to steady the ship. Diallo had some injuries and had to rotate between fullback and centre back last year, so he was clearly the least favoured of the 3 in the middle.
What I liked about Diallo for us this season is amongst the 3 he was probably the best passer and the fastest. He would allow us to be able to push up if necessary, and would replace Mustafi's alleged passing ability, allowing Leno to play the ball out. This is why I would've pushed for him. 32m Euros. Just a reminder of why you want to shop in Germany and Italy and forget about England
