Yeah Saliba looks like a potential Varane, and Maurice would be a good cheap option like Guendouzi was last year.

Saliba - must admit that I have never heard of him till today - talk of him going for upwards of 30M. That's quite some price for a teenager. Anyone on here who has watched him play - what is he like?

Ake is Dutch. The likes of Tyrone Mings (£8m), Benik Afobe (£12m), Jordan Ibe (£15m) and Dominic Solanke (£22m) are no doubt the signings Clarence is referring to.

My kind of defender. Got the build of van Dijk and he turned 18 two months ago.

Hardly goes to ground in that video (and others I've watched), looks fast, agile, strong, decent on the ball and calm and cool as can be.

Not a criticism of him at a personal level, as he looks promising, but is he exactly what we need right now? If he had an established partner that he could form a unit with whilst showing him the ropes, then I could see it but Kos has surely got two seasons left in him max.

Can we go and get a top centreback with experience though, Don? I think we're limited to middling players with experience along the lines of Sokratis last summer or, if we're really lucky and beat out a load of other clubs, kids like this that have top tier potential. I'd rather spend the money on the potential.

we bought bielik when he was 16 playing senior football. he is also a top prospect, huge af, every loan was a succes, this year he was apparently head and shoulders above anyone in the league one. yet after 5 years here he is still waiting for his chance with last year remaining of his contract. and now we are turning our eyes to some 18 years old with few senior appearences for huge money because he looks more sexy right now. i dont like it.

Konate is what you describe as super quality. I've been wishlisting him a while. Don't know enough about Saliba but will watch the comps. I only saw that Mourinho was raving about him the other day and labeling him the next Varane, which is high praise. If he is that highly rated, we have to pounce before Dortmund take him and make a profit at 40m pounds.
