That said if Barca want him as their squad player I'd sell if the price was fair & he wanted to go, particularly if it means we are able to improve our options.

but more so about being perhaps the 3 key areas to look to improve in the summer.

As such I'd be really surprised if we actually mounted as serious attempt to sign any top / established player / talent such as the likes of Pepe unless there is a connection to be taken advantage of such as perhaps Monchi and Under. Without that I think we are more likely to look to players who are marginalised at elite clubs such as the likes of Malcom.
I like the options at LB such as Tierney / Tagliofico / Grimaldo, but I'm not sure of Ake as a top CB option when he is only given as being 180cm in height.

Not sure if I agree 100% that they are the 3 priority positions this summer, and much will depend on both Emery's priority re his style/tactical requirements along with whatever budget and/or fees raised via player sales and reduction of wages. Then again if we regain top4/CL then I'd be tempted to say fuck FFP & let us do a mischief.

Marca claims we are in pole position to sign Nicolas Tagliafico for 8M. Sounds like a decent signing for the price, but for those who have seen him, what is his style like? I thought he was quite poor at the WC, but I guess so was the entire team.

Watched him closely against Madrid, he seems fairly attacking and decent all round ala Monreal, no outstanding attributes as far as I can see.

I'd rather Tierney or Ferland Mendy, but LB is not as priority as RB's backup for me tbf.

Too weak and slow for me. Not even half the defender Monreal is. Has good technique and gets into good attacking positions though.

We're supposedly being linked to Suso at Milan - supposedly as a plan B option if we don't sign Under.
Not sure how they can determine that we're not looking at anyone else like Piatek, Bakayoko, Calhanoglu, Kessie, or even Rodriguez as I think we've been 'linked' to all of them previously.

Some rumours that we are in talks for Ismaila Sarr. Clearly physically blessed, but not sure how good / erratic he will eventually be. For 40M+, which is the touted fee, not sure if he's worth it. I'd rather get Under or Brandt or Wesley Moraes as a cheaper option.

Brandt would be a good deal available for around £21m with a release clause, would be a Torreira-esque transfer.

Sarr has a lot of upside, I wouldn't mind. But seriously compared to the amount of top class wingers available we need to do better.

I hope we go for Pepe. His numbers speak for himself, almost Mbappe level of productivity.

Bergwin, Chukuweze and Neres worth a look too. Think we can't afford Havertz or Bailey

Pepe is too expensive now and sounds like Bayern have that locked. Bergwijn is a great shout. I am not a big fan of Neres personally - feels like he has no physical attributes at all in terms of either pace or strength to really succeed here. Haven't watched Chukwueze at all, so can't comment. Brandt is not quite as technically gifted, but has the pace and strength to make an impact here I think. If we are going to play with 2 strikers, I'd like to bring in Wesley Moraes as a backup.

Saw a headline that we'd opened talks after the first leg v Rennes.
TBH I wasn't impressed by his performance today in the 2nd leg & thought Iwobi at least gets more involved.

Linked to Djene Dakonam from Getafe. Haven't watched him at all, but at 27 years of age, I really hope not. Need 1 elite CB signing and 1 youngster and he fits neither profile.

Hes been one of La Ligas best defenders this season. Very short for a centre back at 5'10 but he's strong like an ox and rapid. Good athleticism and positioning, question marks remain whether Bordalas' ultra defensive set up makes him look better than he is or whether he improved as a player because of it I suspect the latter.

I'd rather de Ligt too but let's be real if the reports of us lowballing Monchi for his salary are true - the guy who'd be brought in to actually earn the club money - then there's little chance we're competing for de Ligt or Koulibaly
