Honestly I think that's a huge load of bollocks. This "play the youngsters" line only serves some purpose if you see any outstanding talents in the academy. Let's be real none of the kids coming up look anything special, the thing is usually if they do they force themselves into the team anyway. Maitland Niles is the only one who on current evidence looks like he might become a useful player and he is getting minutes.
Suarez might not be the next Iniesta but he has had impressive full seasons at Sevilla and Villarreal, also Iniesta himself wasn't the next Iniesta at 24. Carrasco looks like the Vieira/Henry type of transfers that we used to do, also has experience playing and scoring against the best teams in the world. Spent some time in China now but look at Witsel and how well he's doing for Dortmund. Until then however if we can get them on the cheap both look like a much better investment than Saka or Amechi whose claim to fame are a couple goals at fucking Boreham.
