He’s good but we really need to priority physical yet technically adept centrebacks and a pacey threat for wide attacking areas

Good player, but would be a last priority signing for me. I'd get Tah, another young CB (Akanji / Diallo), LB, Lozano, an RW before we look at Banega or any other midfielder.

I actually think a player who has played under Emery and understands the system would be invaluable - more so if they were a starting player in a key area/role. IMO it would go a long way to helping us find consistency. Banega is the same age as Ozil and could be an ideal role model for the likes of ES-R even if playing as CM.

Most players decline at 30. Again he hot used to the league he'd have maybe 12 months left at the top. And the following year he'd be 33 and hopefully alright for some sub appearances. It's just threading water. We need young players with massive potential. That's how spurs and Liverpool got ahead of us.

Absolutely. We are just building future problems by signing more 30ish year olds. Either youngsters with loads of potential or ready made mid 20s players who can give us their best years.

Yes it's a proper Jose signing. When he's given control of transfers, signs a ton of players like this then leaves scorched earth behind for the next manager.

Banega has a useful through ball which would suit Aubameyang but essentially he’d just be another who’d watch the ball fly over his head to see Mustafi, Lichtsteiner, Bellerin, Koscielny, Nacho or Kolasinac struggle to handle Long, Ince, Murray, Barnes and such like

Our central midfield is relatively young anyway Torreira, Guendouzi, Xhaka all under 25, a bit of experience in CM isn't too big a deal. It's in attack where we need energetic young players with Ozil, Auba hitting 30.

If we want the ready made players in CB and CM we should be selling Mustafi and Xhaka to fund it.

There is no way we should be selling Xhaka. There are far more problematic areas in the team. The Xhaka - Torreira axis is fine anyway, its the attacking mids that aren't good enough.

I think the scenario has changed following Mourinho's departure. Saw something about the current talk is of him going out on loan for the remainder of the season for playing time, as opposed to wanting to leave.

I think we need his experience both in a Cazorla type capacity and as a former Emery key player.
Talk that he has a release clause for under 20m.

I'm all for getting more athletic types that will not be bullied by Ashley fuckin Barnes.
We haven't got a spending owner so we can only achieve this after several years of building .
Expiring contracts will take care of Ozil, Auba, Kos, Monreal, Cech, Sok, etc but i would like upgrades on the likes of Mustafi, Xhaka, Holding and Chambers to more athletic types who can win their personal duels without requiring a babysitter.
It's amazing that Sokratis and Torreira are doing as well as they are when they have to cover up their partner's deficiencies all the time.
This affects other areas of the pitch as Liverpool's midfield is showing. Keita, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Henderson and Milner do not require babysitting so are able to cover Robertson's and Alexander-Arnold's forward forages affording them overloads as Salah and Mane don't have to tackle back.

We do lack a string pulling midfielder. I like banega, but I'm not sure he'd be up to it at this stage of his career

We really shouldn't sign someone like Banega to occupy one CM slot. There are tons of young more interesting players out there we should sign and build our side on.

More Torreiras and Guendouzis, fewer Sokratis' (though I like him) and Mkhis.
