I'd certainly take him although a couple of other young centre halves from the Bundesliga would be probably better for us. Pavard is the obvious one but I'd prefer his compatriot Diallo. Also the latter's team mate Gbamin will certainly move this summer, almost equally as good at CB as he is as DM.

First time in ages I feel like some of those lesser known names might actually end up here with Mislintat as our head scout

If they plan to sell Dembele because he is surplus to requirements or he is restless, then we should inquire. We should separate that from any conversations about Bellerin. If they need to dump Dembele, he will end up somewhere outside Barcelona, regardless of whether they get Bellerin. I would prefer to have both men here

I would tend to agree with you, particularly as we may get mugged on the price.

If there is an opportunity to acquire Dembélé, then we need to be on it, if it means sacrificing Bellerin then so be it. Meyer and Dembélé at a net cost of £50 million (although minus Bellerin) would be sensational, and in theory should enable us to have money left over for other departments.

I would like to see us get creative, and organise a loan with a a compulsion to buy next season. Free up even more money in the short for the midfield and defence.

Because they're trying to fund a move for griezmann, which puts dembeles minutes in doubt. Could be a very small window of opportunity there to convince him to link back up with auba

Yep. It's so obvious that he won't develop properly at Barca too. My money were on him being loaned to Sevilla or maybe Valencia within the next 18 months, but I'd take him here of course. I reckon Bellerin is our only real bargaining chip though. Barca will look to recuperate most of that horrific transfer fee. Maybe we can get them to shave off 40-50 million from the price tag. If not then we're already out of the running.

There's absolutely no way they're selling him. He's come back after five months out and has shown great promise in recent performances, why would they sell at all and even more at a loss

He's virtually nailed on to become the focal point for the next Barcelona attack. In Spain they're already touting him as Messi's heir - especially with Griezmanns move becoming increasingly unlikely they have little reason to sell

LOL. Who knows in this topsy turvy world. If this Griezmann move gets back on its legs and he feels left out, maybe Raul and Mislintat are able to get a deal done with their Barcelona and Dortmund histories. Would be a coup. Wish these two men had come in 18 months ago. This place would be in better shape, even with Wenger doing his arsonist act on us.

Selling Wenger a bit short here Claude. Özil came and joined 4th place Arsenal because of him, and there were zero high profile players left at the club at that time.

I think there are excellent reasons from Dembele's perspective to come and work with Wenger. If he really thinks he's a top player in the making himself he'll look at the other recent signings we've made and weigh those into his decision. He knows how good Aubameyang is because he played with him at Dortmund. He knows about Mkhitaryan. Even Lacazette had a big reputation in France. We've made a few ambitious signings lately, and going after Dembele would signal that we don't intend to stop making them.

We can go after as many players as we want, but that 6th place finish means we will have to throw bigger numbers at them to convince them to sign with us. Wenger doesnt have a project to sell anymore to encourage them otherwise .
I just cant see us spending whats needed to get Dembele.
