I can't remember who mentioned it but you can't help but feel it's true, we're just not the pull we used to be. I'm almost certain if this was the invincibles approaching him, with Thierry here for him to learn off, it may have tipped the balance in our favour.

I can't help but think we'd waste his potential these days. It's not that I don't have faith in Wenger to develop individuals, the squad is just sorely lacking, in every sense, to provide players like him the chance to flourish.

I think players like that nowadays you need to make them big promises and I'm not sure Wenger is willing to do that any more. You need to offer a wage that matches up with a big role too. I can understand why that is worrying for Wenger because he's been stuck with so many mediocrities on big wages in recent years.

The reality is Wenger no longer knows when to push the boat out for young talents. He just doesn't make great signings out of the blue any more. Sure he'll get Sanchez or Ozil if they're available and he'll splash for a hot property like Xhaka was last year. There are no surprises left with him though. No more Anelkas or Henrys.

You can add him to the "nearly signed" superstars that Wenger was oh so close to getting... an illustrious list that boasts Messi, Higuain, Ronaldo, Drogba, Zlatan, Hazard, Suarez, Yaya Toure, Di Maria, Benzema, Bale, Kanté, etc

Joke of a manager. Can't wait to find out the next superstar he was so close to signing before ending up with Sanogo. Let me take a guess...Aubameyang? Dybala? Griezmann? I'm dying to know. It's just so exciting to know about who Wenger was so close to signing but couldn't...I live for it.

He is a joke these days, but I don't see how that has anything to do with him having tried to sign some very good players before they chose someone else.

I think he's willing to make big promises and I can imagine he's pretty convincing if he's got your ear. I think the issue is that his promises don't carry any credibility anymore, there's no evidence to back it up. Unless we start to back it up with big contract offers that 'prove' the level of our ambition and commitment, they're probably not going to be drawn in.

I haven't seen much Leipzig, but from what I've heard he's more offense minded than Kante. Heard good things about him though.

Just get Goretzka and play him as partner to Xhaka.
