We didn't look any more pourous/shite/solid etc with him in CM compared to all the other combinations we tried last season (yes including the 2 DM pairing of Arteta and Flamini).
His defensive game has always been fine to me (could still improve a lot), although I'd say it's weaker these days compared to when he 1st burst on to the scene, but that is down to a change in mindset IMO; he seems to think he should be scoring 20 goals and providing 20 assists a season for him to be recognised as a world class footballer. This obsession to become another goalscoring 'CM' like Lampard or Gerrard could fuck up his development. He listens too much to those dimwits in the press who think the job of a CM is to score goals. I really hope Wenger has a word. Same applies to Ramsey, plays far too often ahead of the ball for a CM.
What I don't get is those who don't want Wilshere to play CM because they see him as a liability without the ball would like to see him play out wide as if that would make us less susceptible defensively. Very few teams base their attacks through the middle, almost all attacking routines in training are based on wing play, therefore they are more likely to punish defensive weaknesses out wide than in the centre.
The defensive monsters that are Wijnaldum and Wesley Sneijder were the reason Costa Rica couldn't score a goal against the Netherlands after 120 minutes of football last night :erm:

I disagree on his final ball and finishing being brilliant. His final ball is not even on Ramsey's level IMO, which is also a level behind the likes of Ozil, Cesc etc I can't ever see him developing into a prolific player, this is not a case like Ramsey who we all knew had goals in him but was just lacking confidence.
