You guys are almost to a man wrong about Lukaku in my opinion, but I'm not going to die in a ditch over it. The seemingly insane price tag is just because he's young and about to enter his prime, and that's where the market's at now for strikers.
Many of you have been wrong about Giroud as well at some point, because you're incapable of seeing that a striker who will consistently put 15–20 goals in the net is actually a great player in this league. Lukaku could easily score 20 for Arsenal.
There was a team stat last season that AFC created the most expected goals in the PL by something like 20 opportunities ahead of 2nd place, and was also amongst the likes of RM, Barca & Bayern in UEFA in terms of expected scoring opportunities created.
The individual goal scoring stats had Lukaku's conversion rate for expected goals as being something like 60%, which was above the likes of Kane and Vardy (around 40%) and only bettered in the PL by Aguero, and was closer in % to the elite goal scorers than to Vardy.
By contrast Giroud had one of the poorest conversion rates of any top flight goal scorer in double figures, and was lower than 30%.
