He doesn't really score more goals than Giroud though. In the last three seasons Giroud has scored 46 goals (16, 14, 16) in the league. Lukaku has scored 43 (15, 10, 18 ). Their seasonal averages are pretty much identical. Lukaku is faster but he's also a worse footballer across the spectra, and like Gazza I don't think he has another level in him. If anything he seems to have gone backwards since he arrived at Everton.
He's a goalscorer and we barely have any so he'd definitely have a role to fill, but he's not what we should be aiming for. I think he'd frustrate people just as much as Olly does. Lukaku looks like the worst big-money option on the market this summer, and by some distance too. Morata is blatantly more talented, Aubameyang is blatantly better, and Higuain is blatantly world class. Spending all our money on him would be so stupid.
