I completely agree with Kel BTW. Wenger isn't doing enough to make us competitive and signing a striker alone wont be enough. That if we ever get that striker.

Don't quite agree with Y Va as De Gea is a goalkeeper. His arrival won't have any impact on relative positions of any of the outfield players. The transfer fee won't be significant enough to force Madrid's hand to do any selling.

They've sacked all the good managers in top tier. Looks to me like they're treating Benitez as a glorified back up till the next managerial hot shot turns up. That is why they're not ready to invest in him contrary to their habit after seasons when did not win anything.

The only glaring hole in my theory is Klopp. Why didn't they go for Klopp? Does that mean they rate Benitez above him? Why are they not investing in Benitez then?

Yes. The holding midfield lack of quality depth was easily rectifiable. That is going to come back and bite us if/when Coquelin misses games due to injury or suspension. This is as stupid as not buying a back up centre-back last year.

The worst part here is that we are actually paying a lot of money in wages to Flamini and Arteta.

What trade-offs Y va? Don't think De Gea will cost a lot to them. So, there will be no financial need to sell.

Hope feedback from Ozil and Di Maria stops him from going to United :egg: But, they can surely offer $$ at at entirely different level.

Im totally with wussed and oft here. We shouldnt buy average/adequate players for the sake of buying them. Adding them will not make a slightest difference to our season. We should only add, if a clear upgrade is available. We fixed the GK situation, but i dont see any upgrades at LB, DM or ST being available on the market.

Don't need an upgrade on DM. The back ups are not good enough.

In all other positions, we should only look at upgrades.

Madrid need Da Gea.
United do not want to sell him, that alone would up the asking price regardless of how long he has left on his contract.
If money's not enough they need to persuade United to part with him so what can they offer?
United need a striker, offer Benzema.

Madrid are prepared to jettison top players in pursuit of key targets, they've proved that over the past few seasons.

That's the thing, they're not desperate for him now. They bought Navas who was La Liga's GK of the season and put him on the bench. Now they've promoted him. They know that they can get De Gea for free next season. I think they showed that quite clearly by getting Casilla, a good GK,[size=large] as a backup for Navas. [/size]

I think United are key to unlocking this transfer window too. Both De Gea and Di Maria could produce some butterfly effects throughout Europe.
