I think its obvious we've talked to Real Madrid about Benzema, and I'm sure this summer wasn't the first time. Wenger is a big fan but also a realist and knows that something major will have to happen for him to head our way.

We have no leverage over Real Madrid, but we do apparently have their ear (Ozil transfer). Why that is I'm not sure, I guess even the big wigs may be Arsenal fans.

Helps too that Mendes doesn't manage Benzema 🙂

I don't think we'll sign Benzema though, reckon he's too in thrall with playing for Madrid to want to leave them, even if he does too much bench time.

Our getting a striker clearly a level above Giroud this window are pipe dreams. I hope, we can get someone with potential: like Lacazatte (haven't seen him live, mind you) may be! But, knowing Wenger, that won't happen.

Won't be surprised at all if we ended up buying no one part fr, a cheap creative midfielder or a young left back something irrelevant like that.
