I am pleased to know that we are talking to 2 players. Meaning we are desperate to sign someone in that position.

Sounds like it is Cavani. Not sure if he's the right guy, but I'll give him a chance if he comes. Out of the wishlisted players Zlatan, Benz, Götze, Reus and Vidal, Cavani comes last. That's even considering that a striker is what we need the most. Not that coming behind those guys on a wishlist says a lot.

It's a bit like how Harry Kane is younger and scored more than Costa but I'd still rather have Costa because he's better.

but how good is cavani now? hes 28. sure, hes had to play wide more in deference to ibra, but he hasn't been the same as he was at napoli. how much of an upgrade would he be over giroud, if we're being honest?

Though I'd certainly take him I would be a little disappointed if he turnss out to be the madness.

I think Cavani would be a good fit in our system. Has the physical traits Wenger likes and he's very nimble and quick on the turn.

I think a lot of people have an issue with the way Giroud forces us to play when he's up front more than his individual ability.

He's an upgrade on Giroud without the need to adapt to suit him.

This = Giroud is a 1 trick pony & we are forced to play to his strengths rather than exploit the other strengths in the team, and in particular our pace & passing. Subsequently we lack the ability to vary our game successfully without making subs, and AW is loathe the take off Giroud because of the reliance upon his height to defend at set pieces.

Giroud probably has better technical close control as a back to goal linking CF,
but Cavani is a more capable & flexible CF in every other aspect.

Cavani would be a massive upgrade for us. Sign him, and we are instantly in with a proper shot at winning the title IMO. I'd rather we signed Cavani than Benzema too.

Houseboat murmurings about us going after Alaba. Fair enough that we passed up Schneiderlin if we actually have a lead on Alaba. Otherwise, we could very easily be finishing 4th next season.
