Surely transfer market activity as a whole would suggest that clubs and players alike are dragging their feet? Out of the top 7 clubs in England you've only got two deals that are virtually done, one which had a buyout clause (and even then it's still not formally completed) and Lambert who's a thoroughly uncomplicated player to sign. That extends to pretty much everywhere around Europe too.

That being said, I'd have expected us to at least sign a right back fairly quickly.

You said Jeremy's tweet about nothing being imminent is shocking, well he is quite close to the club and in a roundabout way has pointed out why we are waiting. So why exactly is his tweet shocking? You can't force clubs to sell if they don't want to yet. It is wiser to wait until better players become available than buy whatever is available right now.

I'd agree in the past the clubs transfer policy has left a lot to be desired but that doesn't mean we will make the same mistakes again.

Should we just buy players for the sake of things? R.Madrid aren't talking of selling, Berlusconi is saying he wants Balotelli to stay. Looks like Costa to Chelsea was wrapped up months ago so it doesn't really leave us with many options at all.

If for example Suarez is sold to R.Madrid then they'll probably look to sell and then Liverpool will look to buy. So those clubs who do want to sell will want to market their players then rather than now where there isn't much interest.

An option could be to overpay for Lukaku like Manure did with Mata. I doubt they will turn down an offer close (or maybe even more) to what they paid for Costa.

Forget about Biggus I'd be calling for Wenger to resign if we paid that money for Lukaku! Also he is quite high in demand, I think they'd him for around £20m-£25m anyway so would rather take that hit than sell to us.

What I like about Balo is that he has the balls and the skill to do some truly outrageous stuff.

If we can't get a real world class striker like Cavani or Suarez, then I'd prefer Balo over Lukaku simply because he's more entertaining. I'd still be thrilled with Lukaku though.

Balotelli has the potential to score 30 but also could go a season with sub-Giroud numbers. Much bigger risk.

I agree, Lukaku's goalscoring record in the premiership is very impressive. I'd be confident of him scoring regularly and hitting 20 goals.

I really miss having an exciting striker though, and I feel that we haven't had one since Henry (Even RVP, a lot of the flair left his game over the years imo).

Balo might be a bit inconsistent, but he has that X factor which makes him truly entertaining to watch. But then again, if Lukaku's banging them in every week that's obviously entertaining too, everyone loves goals.
