Always Sunny was OK.. didnt think it was all that great though.. and i actually hate CYE.. cant explain it, i loved Seinfeld, some of the same humour is in CYE, but I guess I just dont like Larry David as anything more than a writer

Always Sunny used to be one of my favourites, but the newest ones have been very hit and miss. imo 30 Rock has probably aged the best out of all the established sitcoms.

Planning to check "The Borgias" soon. Anyone who's played Assassin's Creed, or read the book "The Family" by Mario Puzo will know it's about the most corrupt, immoral papal family in history, the Borgias. Jeremy Irons plays the lead (Rodrigo). It's on Showtime so it's production values should be pretty high.

Game of Thrones on HBO is getting huuuuge amount of hype, looking forward to that in the next few weeks.

Gazza: I've seen about half a dozen eps of Community now. It is getting pretty decent. One thing that bugs me about sitcoms though, they're just not quite hard-edged enough.

Yeah, season one. Very good show, lots of good characters, lots of social realism, lots of New Orleans African-American culture, not a huge amount of action, pretty funny though.

John Goodman's character in it is pretty priceless.

hated it.. turned it off after half the first episode.. was looking forward to it since the writers of The Wire were doing it and some of the same actors were in it, but at the end of the day, tired of hearing about Katrina and New Orleans and dont find that culture/way of life the least bit interesting.. What do people think of Spartacus blood and sand?

I loved the original Spartacus novel and film (which were nothing like each other).
About a bunch of downtrodden ill-treated slaves humiliated by an evil cruel system ruled by a ruthless manager who they overthrow!

I watched the old Kubrick the other day, and I have to say, so many great shots and great scenes. Haven't seen the TV show at all.

US: I think we shared this typically different view, but I have to say I agree with you on the dislike of shows that retread well-worn ground. To an Australian New Orleans is a fresher environment to learn about I suppose, but I hate local drama that goes over shit that bores me.

Spartacus Blood & Sand is surprisingly very good, as is the prequel season Gods of the Arena

I watched the first two parts of The Kennedys last night. Wilkinson - talk about chewing scenery! A whole load of actors acting.

The script also sounds like it's been written for 10 year olds. Almost every second line in it is a character explaining the glaringly obvious.

So not very good then. I'll probably still watch more though, as I'm a sucker for period stuff like this.

Checked out Game of Thrones on HBO. It's been described as the Sopranos in Middle-earth, and has Sean Bean in it. Based on the book "a Song of Fire and Ice" by George R.R. Martin. Looks pretty impressive judging from the premiere.

I'll watch it, but I'm going to wait for the season to finish first. Should be good light entertainment though, the books are enjoyable.

Anyone else a fan of Spooks? My favourite show at the moment and one that for me keeps getting better and better each new season. Unbelieveably I started at season 5 - currently 3 episodes into season 9 in NZ - I think because previously I was always out at football training and things the nights it was on TV (never been a massive downloader due to generally crap bandwidth limits in NZ). I've since got hold of series 1-3 but still yet to see series 4.

I stopped watching during season 6 as I recall. It got too similar to 24 and lost its charm.

Finished the first series of Boardwalk Empire over the weekend. very impressive first season, I thought. Great to see Steve Buscemi in the central role, think Michael Pitt, Steven Graham and the guy who plays Richard Harrow have all been brilliant to watch. Not as compulsive as The Wire, or The Sopranos, but I'll be looking forward to series 2.

Completely fallen behind with Boardwalk Empire, and most of what is currently on Sky Atlantic. I did however record Game of Thrones last night. Off work next week, so hopefully will catch up then.

Still loving Six Feet Under though.

i know someone who is in Boardwalk Empire.. one of the ward bosses that always sits around in Buscemi's conference rooms.. one of my wife's co-workers brother (i met him a couple times)
