Yeah, I love those scenes too. He seemed so disappointed when he talked to her about his dyslectic children the other week. 😆
I still think the show has lacked a strong POV character this season though. I liked the idea of using Ned Stark's death as a catalyst for all the other storylines. But the obvious downside of killing such a prominent character (and in the process lose an actor who's a cut above the rest of them) is that the quality drops unless you replace him with someone else. That type of storytelling is probably a lot easier to pull off in a book where the characters have much more depth.
Charles Dance and Peter Dinklage are the two best remaining actors (and, I'd argue, play the most interesting characters) on the show but they haven't featured that much. I like the guy who plays Jaime Lannister too but the character's sociopathic tendencies are getting a bit too much for my taste. Most of it strikes me as poor writing too. You could have explained - albeit not justified - some of his previous actions as measures he took to protect his own but it felt a bit contrived to watch him look smug while beating some distant relative to death with a chain after spending the evening being kind and friendly towards him.
