The Office US is one of the most unfunny things ever to appear on TV. It makes Friends look like Blackadder.

I watched a couple of episodes here and there over the years and felt it was far too 'American' for my liking, that they had butchered the original. Having watched about 5 series of it now, it has grown on me massively, and has stopped being just an American version of the original and become its own show, with its own ideas.

Maybe it's a bit too over the top and silly for your taste, but it really does get much better as it goes on, and, like I said, about a series in it stops trying to be an American version of the original and is much better for it. For the first series Steve Carell is basically doing a (not all that good) impression of Ricky Gervais, it's when he puts his own spin on it that it gets good.

There really are some brilliant characters in it.

Definitely agree with Ricky about Carell coming into his own after season 1. He's easily as good as Gervais, if not better, for me. Season 2 and 3 in particular are nothing short of brilliant.

Rainn Wilson is feckin hilarious too. Had me in stitches at different points.

The whole thing just comes together nicely as it goes along though. Only has up to series 5 on Netflix, will have to go and buy series 6-8 I think.

US Office is decent in its own right but it cant be compared to the UK version which is more the fly on the wall documentary which its supposed to be, unlike US which is pretty much a sitcom.

Its also very difficult to compare the English show with its 12 episodes and a special to the US Offices 160+ episodes.

The English one is obviously a classic but at its best the US version equals it.

I think the US "version" (I'm reluctant to use that word because, honestly, it doesn't have much in common with the British show apart from the fact that they both take place in an office) is better too. The direction is completely different, which is why it works so well. The only weak episodes so far were the first ones where the script was still based on the British show and Carell tried to pull off a character who was closer to Brent than the Michael Scott he ended up with.

Watched all but one episode of Sons of Anarchy Season 4 over the past week or so (haven't watched the finale so DO NOT SPOIL ME).

It's really a very good show. Silly but engrossing.

My only serious complaints are that there are way too many montages used to advance plot, the body count is getting seriously implausible for a medium-sized criminal enterprise (must've been a hundred people gunned down so far this season), and I'm not sure how they can possibly keep it together for two more seasons.

Have to say I was surprised by some of the plot decisions in the penultimate episode. Still have to see where they take it in the finale, but so far it seems a bit gutless.

Can't help but feel there should be/have been more blood. I'm starting to think the popularity of the show is driving the script, which is a bad thing.

@Pep The GoT season two trailer is indeed, pretty fucking inspiring. Going to be fun.

A Clash of Kings has more mayhem and twists than any of the other novels, I think. If you thought the end of season twist was good last time around you're in for a treat.
