The password was silly too but I loved it, easily the best thing I've seen on TV in the holidays. Downloading the first season now, completely missed it first time round.

sherlock is great. caught up with the first season a few weeks ago, and season 2 opened just as strongly.

I've got the whole first season to watch as well.
Next up in series two is The Hound of the Baskervilles, most curious to see their take on that.

I thought the finale was decent... unless you were expecting them to actual kill off Brody I don't see how it disappointed. Ok the phone call may have been a bit improbably but every show requires some amount of suspension of disbelief.

Everything about it felt so different from the traditional television approach. Great premise, terrific actors, lots of character development at the expense of fast pacing and heavy plotting. Showtime are notorious for keeping their shows on the air for far too long though. Just look at what has happened with Dexter. Homeland has been standing on the same spot for half a season. We still don't know who's the mole (if it's Saul I'll seriously stop watching for good, but he looks more like a red herring at the moment), Brody hasn't been exposed yet or even targeted by anyone else than Carrie despite the CIA having good reasons to at least be suspicious, and the way Nazeer had him shoot Walker in the head was just a stupid way to avoid having the actor in season two. You also have to wonder why Walker was the only one who had an open line to Nazeer when Brody was trusted with the most important part of the mission.

I also hated the way the final scene with Danes' character set up an entire season of will she/won't she remember that Brody knew the name of Abu Nazeer's kid. That's just poor writing that gives them a reason to avoid the elephant in the room. I can accept that Brody didn't kill himself but I'm very sceptic about the second season now. It might just as well go Prison Break on us. I have no illusions that Showtime will eventually do what Boardwalk Empire did in its second season finale and put an end to a story arc that has run its course.*

Agree complete on Danes line about the kids name, that was horrible. I really hope they don't dwell on that next year. Thats pretty much my only worry though.

Don't agree on the rest though. The show has completely moved for the second half of the season and the finale told us the most important thing about the show, yes Brody is a terrorist and yes he is willing to flick the switch. And I'll admit I really wanted Brody to blow everyone up, not sure what that says about me but thats what I was cheering for. Its not bad because it didn't do what I wanted though, if a show does everything I want it'll never surprise me or be interesting.

There's no way Saul can be the mole now, that would make no sense. What about the black CIA guy, Sauls boss. I reckon there has to be more going on with him and he seems a bit of a cunt.

I don't think Showtimes horrible track record really impacts on anything Homelands done so far either. For starters its already about a million times better than Dexter ever was. Its easily the best thing Showtime have made. Maybe they will try to stretch it too long but this is the end of series one so its not important yet.

As you mentioned Boardwalk I'll just add that I'm much more worried about that going forward. Its not as good as Homeland anyway and without Jimmy its going to be very hard to remain interesting.

Maybe. I hope you're right about Homeland. Would hate to see it stretched out over four or five seasons. I think David looks like the best bet at the moment too for the mole. That guy that Danes worked with is suspicious as well. The problem is that both of them seem a bit obvious.

About Boardwalk and Jimmy: It's definitely a huge risk since so many great characters were associated with him, but I think the show did a terrific job last season to introduce new people. William Forsythe is great, for instance. Like the Irish lad too that works for Nucky. I really respect that they took such a big risk though. It felt like a necessary step too in a way. I doubt Boardwalk would've survived another season if it had fallen back on the design from season one.

My biggest concern is actually what will happen to Richard. I think he's an outstanding character but it always felt like the only thing that kept him from killing himself was his friendship with the Darmody's. Hard to see any obvious place for him in the bootlegging business now. Maybe he'll go on a quest for vengeance?

Just finished watching the first series of Luther, absolutely loved it. I got the two series box set for Christmas, so looking forward to the watching the second series now. And Idris Elba is feckin awesome!

Also got the Breaking Bad box set, which should be good.

I just finished series 1 of Luther as well. Really liked it too and I've watched a couple of episodes of series 2 now and it seems even better. They seem to have ironed out a few of the kinks from series 1, like his terrible boss who spent the whole series saying "we're coppers..." and mugging.

Had a feeling it would get better by the episode and it did. So I was fully expecting the second series to be better.

I didn't like Teller's fake cockney accent, it was bloody awful, and I thought Elba took a couple of episodes to really get how to play Luther, but he had it nailed by the end of the series. The woman who plays psycho Alice Morgan is seriously good, too.

Reckon it could be a series that runs for a while and becomes more popular and more refined with every series.

There's only 4 fucking episodes of series 2!!! Whats wrong with the English and their stupidly short TV series.

Really? I'm just about to watch it, and that has pissed me off. Six was short enough.

'T was bloody awesome. Didn't see how the ending was going to play out, which always makes things more enjoyable.

4 episodes or not, it was a quality series, and better than the first. Don't watch a lot of TV shows, but I will be watching the new series when it comes out.

Speaking of Sherlock, did anyone else notice that the last episode of season two is titled "The Reichenbach Fall"?
