Heh. Nice connection.
One thing that's conspicuously quite absent from The Wire is the media, or did I miss something?
Eh series 5? Its not handled nearly as well any of the other topics but how could you miss it. I mean they basically slap you across the face and scream "print media is dying because everyone is making shit up!!!" That theme runs through nearly all the story lines in that series.
As for Lester being unconvincing he's just a typical TV/Film cop trope. The guy who was a maverick but got pushed under the carpet yet he still has it, cos once you have it you never lose it. Same way McNulty is just the younger version of that character, and of course thats the whole point.
TBH I don't find that many of the characters all that amazing in The Wire, its much more plot driven and its the interviewing of those plots and the themes that the show deals with and how it deals with them that makes it so great.
So as to who is the best character thats easy, its Baltimore. :hat: Really though I always liked Chris because he had alot of stuff they never addressed out straight that left you to wonder about his past and what made him the way he was.
