I'd say Walt's first step into the abyss was Krazy 8. The rest has just been moving the goal posts really.

Did anybody catch Holby City yesterday? Was flicking and realised they were doing a storyline about 'medication for old people' that perfectly mirrored a case that I worked on for a short time. It was only then that I realised, quite naively, that they must base all of their scenarios on real world events.

USA, I think you mentioned that you hated Treme. I've watched two episodes thus far, and it's brilliant. Although I've never been to New Orleans, I've done a fair bit of research on it for some undergrad classes I've taken, and I'd say Treme's remarkably true to form. If you're into jazz music at all, this is a must-see IMO.

that's just it.. im not, in any way, interested in that.. dont care about jazz music, tired of hearing about Katrina (my feelings about Katrina and New Orleans is a conversation for another time and place), really dont care about the subject matter in the least..

im sure if you are interested in that kind of thing, the show is terrific, and i was excited by the cast of actors in it, but was so unbelievably disappointed in it that i stopped watching it..

im not surprised that many people like it, and more power to them... i just dont personally care about any of it

Good opening to this series of Breaking Bad.

New Curb was absolutely hilarious. If this series can keep up the quality of the first 2 it could be the best yet.

Finished Season 3 of The Wire. What a fantastic show. Totally blew Season 2 out of the water, and improved on 1 simply by really developing the crime family dynamic and developing the related politics storyline. Such a remarkable show. I was quite saddened when one of the characters was killed towards the end of Season 3. I'd become quite fond of him/her.

I'm taking a break now and watching Seasons 4 and 5 of 24 before I get back to The Wire.

It seems that they caught Bryan Robson in a sting operation and, by extension, dragged Ferguson into it as well.

I'm taking a break now and watching Seasons 4 and 5 of 24 before I get back to The Wire.

Season 3 was my favourite, Avon and Stringer's storyline was just perfect television. I think most people have season 4 down as the best though so you've got plenty more to look forward to!

Excellent start to season 4 of Breaking Bad. Gus is one psycho!

I've started watching The Shield now too, loved it instantly. Vic Mackey is my hero. Over the past year I've finished The Wire, Sopranos and have caught up on Breaking Bad, let's hope The Shield continues the trend.

I'm into the Shield atm too, season 5. This show is just gut-wrenching to watch, in a good way.

And just wait until Forest Whitaker enters the frame. As far as tv rivalries go, Kavanaugh vs. Mackey is up there with McNulty and co vs. Stringer and Avon. The only thing is that I'm not really into the standard police procedural side plots in the Shield, they just divert from the main action involving the strike team. I preferred to Wire's focus on one slowly unfolding case.

For those that have watched The Wire, one question for you.

Who is your favorite character in the series (or top few characters, but not more than 3 or4) ?

Personally, my favorite character is Omar.. second is Prop Joe... third is Bunk (with Bubbles running a close 4th)
