I recently finished Mad Men Season 4.

Wickedness. Excellent series.

I'm now watching Treme. Another real American life story telling show. Love it. I love how these David Simon stories are not in your face or obvious or overblown. It grates in a lot of people's faces. They see it as pretentious. Ok fine, some of it is politically obvious but it's usually on point an interesting because there's no good guy bad guy syndrome that we're fed endlessly. It's entertaining and revealing at the same time.

The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and probably Treme (only seen two eps) are my favourite shows. I have love for 24 as it was my first baby.

I need to get into more comedy. Is the modern family show any good? Tips guys.

Love that show, it's quite smart comedy and as you say, Phil is the man!

Finished Dexter Season 4 there the other day. Fantastically good watching.

oh, the wife was just not happy about this.. ranting and raving about the cunts at Fox.. not quite brought to tears about it like she did with Terriers, but still livid nonetheless

you know, i feel sorry for Shawn Ryan (the creator of Chicago Code).. he's had 2 great shows cancelled after their only season (the other being Terriers)..

this guys got a bit of bad luck with him right about now..

He managed a long run with The Shield and a decent run with The Unit though. I find it very hard to understand when Terriers and Chicago Code didn't find audiences though. Both are very accessible and really good.

Anyway last night I watched the latest Game of Thrones and its really got going now. Its like Lord of the Rings meets The Wire meets something very violent and weird. Seems to be turning into a really great show though. Even better than Boardwalk Empire. Good year for HBO though with those 2 series debuting.

I'm pretty psyched about Game of Thrones, because the books are a lot of fun and have very TV-ish soapy twists and turns.

The only bad vibe I have is that the novel series is unfinished and has had a sense of collapsing under the weight of its own ambition for a long time now. There are about half a dozen novels (latest one has been delayed forever and a day), each is around the 1000 page mark and written in a fairly labour intensive manner with multiple limited character viewpoints. I'm fairly sure that in the grand scheme there were supposed to be at least two or three more after the one that's just about due to be published.

I predict either the TV show takes off and pushes the novel series to a timely conclusion (written by committee if need be) or both founder and fizzle out into messy incoherence.

Last nights Game Of Thrones was immense! It's definitely building very nicely.

I'm quite tempted to give the books a read.

Just finished Justified Season 2. The first season was decent, but the second one really was superb. Looking forward to the next one.

GoT is fantastic, right up there with my favorite shows already unless the second half of the season ends up being a massive dissapointment, which I'm told is unlikely from those who have read the books.

Yeah they really figured it out series 2. Possibly the best TV show of the year.

Based on the books, the end to this season should be fairly mind-blowing if you're enjoying the early part.

The first couple of books are renowned for being unparalleled among mainstream fantasy in terms of pacing and character plotting - quite possibly due to the writer (George Martin) having had a secondary career in TV and film writing.

The conclusion to the first novel, A Game of Thrones, delivers in spades.

Breaking Bad would be knocking Boardwalk into the Europa League for me.

The West Wing would dominate any of them in the semis of the CL and beat BSG in the final.

You can keep your Spurs-like TV shows!

The West Wing had the potential to be league winners but end up being in mid table due to everyone in it running around on high horses, being righteous and smug all the time with a strong sense of morality. Suggesting politicians are anything like that makes it more fictional than BSG.
