I just wanted a dedicated thread for my love of American TV.

I wanna get into Treme, Boardwalk Empire and The Good Wife, particularly the 1st two. Y va marquer has already mentioned that The Good Wife is well worth a watch.

Is Treme any good? David Simon of the Wire has done this New Orleans show.

I'm looking forward to watching Mad Men series 4 and Breaking Bad series 3. I don't download so i'm waiting for the DVD releases. I've still gotta start 24 season 8.

I'm looking forward to Mad Men series 4. Rescue Me is good too, although the last season was apparently a bit crap.

Boardwalk Empire looks decent, so I'll probably give that a look.

Can't wait for Breaking Bad season 4 (keep up Tony!), joke that they have 18 month break bewteen each season.

Never heard of Treme but if its anything like The Wire then it's definitely worth a watch.

I've watched season one of Treme - it's nothing much like the Wire apart from its relative realism and its interest in black US culture and politics. If anything it's probably slightly more "real" than the Wire.

Great music if you like that sort of thing, and quite a few good characters. Steve Zahn is a hoot, and Lester and Bunk from the Wire have excellent roles.

we started watching BB later, but glad we did, very good show.. only half way through season 2 now, but we'll catch up with it as i've now DL'ed season 3

anyone watch Royal Pains? new season just came back this past week.. i love that show...

also, anyone catch the new series called "Fairly Legal"? (airs right after Royal Pains).. was a bit skeptical on it from the previews, but the first episode turned out to be pretty good..

Haha. I tried to get a thing going with some friends but they're not interested in it either. I don't think they picked up on enough of the various references and popcultural themes that Psych makes use of. I don't mind watching it alone though. The scope of the show is just amazing. Take the Twin Peaks homage earlier this season, for instance. That was some of the best stuff I watched on tv last year.

Lagos, mate, it's "Psych", not "Psycho" (just wanted to make sure you were aware of that)

i personally love the show. i think its funny as hell. the short quips, the pop culture references (that not everyone gets, but they are valid), the interplay between the main characters (all of them)..

Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but 30 Rock is a good shout if you're looking for a comedy.

yeah that was a typo US, data allowance is very stingy over here so I have to be selective with my dowloads but if you and Klaus say it's good then that's good enough for me....at least a few episodes to see what it's like.

ahh, your back home now, i forgot... i guess i take bandwidth for granted (i usually download an entire season at once and only takes a couple hours).. but yeah, try the first couple episodes (dont just go by the first episode)

you won't believe I've been through 5 different service providers in the short time I've been back. Most of those advertising unlimited downloads and touting broadband are only running at 512K at most 800kbps. Those with reasonable speeds 2-3Mbps tend to have a limit on downloads. Currently I have a 3g wireless connection with a 7GB limit and the mrs has a 2mbps wimax connection with a 10gb limit, but considering I was regularly on speed restriction back in the Uk for exceeding 100Gb monthly, it's a bit of an adjustment!!

Anyway, just finished series 1 of Rome, absolutely loved the dramatisation of it, particularly the twist at the end - never saw that coming.

To be fair the comments were made off air and never meant for broadcast.
It was a private conversation and if those are his views so be it.

He might have a point - quite a few women don't know (or care!) about the offside rule but it's a bit dumb to think that someone who has been appointed as a PL match official wouldn't be at least acquainted with the rule and have had previous experience of it's application in a match situation.

Anyway is he not aware that women have an inherent capacity to replay events exactly as they unfolded without the aid of video replay?
