Wenger and the negotiation team don't have a clue. They constantly overpay mediocre to avg players while underpaying stars. The curve isn't linear. Look at any other major sport - the marquee superstar players who win titles get paid much, much more because they are scarce. Avg players are, by definition, common and there should be no premium paid for their services.
We end up wasting money both in wages and in lost transfer fees.
As for the rest of our finances, same story since 10 yrs ago. The club is a cashcow, except for commercial revenue, where once again, the incompetent executive team has no clue and leaves us behind our competitors.
