Sicario2 Sounds like we are just trimming things down than us being in any kind of financial issues.

Whatever these guys are being brought in for, important the club puts its best people behind the project. I’ve experienced big consulting from both sides in both public and private sector. If you invest heavily and steer them well, you’ll get bang for buck. If you don’t, you might as well set the money on fire and dance around the flames

Goes a little unnoticed but we have invested quite a bit in the last three years. Now that we have accomplished the target for those investments I feel the club just wants to make sure they make the best use of money going forward.

I fully expect 1-2 signings max for the next few summers.

I don't see a long quiet period in the transfer market as likely myself. Not with Josh Kroenke getting personally involved in the Vinicius bid, reportedly based on the club's internal projections we could reach another level in profile and revenues. It's an American way to think about sport, but I suspect we held back a little in summer in order to go really big later.

Burnwinter agree on Josh's thinking. It's hard to see an opportunity for a big star like that though. Vini was a bit of some off proposition in that regard. Who else has that sort of profile that could move? It's him, Mbappe, Yamal and Haaland really.

Burnwinter Agreed. Hopefully we move from last summer's trolley dash to focusing on quality over quantity with the big signings and taking some punts on the backups (like Tzolis was perhaps intended to be, his quick settling in aside) rather than the likes of Eze and Madueke.

It's possible (just) to imagine one of the PSG or Bayern guys thinking they've accomplished everything they can there and looking for a "new challenge."

RowJimmy none of their players are really in that star conversation though. Kane is too old. Kvara, Dembele and Olise all brilliant but don't have that star power.

The easy way to see how tough the quality conversation is is to look at our rivals and think about who we would really want from them. Beyond City who are peers, who improves us from Liverpool, Unitec, Spurs, Chelsea. You realise it’s not a big population that we are after.

Claudius Spurs aren't our peers at the moment. Their peers are Fulham, Coventry and Palace.

Claudius Depends on the position honestly. In our forward line, I'd say many improvements from the second set of clubs you mentioned - at least half a dozen players between these clubs who are better than their equivalents at Arsenal (Estevao vs Madueke, Sesko vs Gyok, Rogers v Eze, Pedro v Havertz, Barcola v Eze, etc.) - some not prioritized by us for financial reasons (and rightly so) and some genuine misses. Less so in MF and DF, I agree.

You already used Eze as a comparison point. I would have tried for Barcola if I had been in charge but remains to be seen how successful.

In any case none of these are clear improvements to our team.
