JazzG this is why I’m not as worried as most about selling players. We have a small spend versus other clubs. We can afford upgrades. Wirtz, Ekitike, Isak

Claudius theres a cautionary tail for us looking at how liverpool spent their money after winning the title. we're all wanting some ceiling raising recruitment to really help us push on, but at the same time getting major buys wrong can still send us backwards.

The difference being, Liverpool tried to replace almost their entire attacking lineup and their RB (with Trent leaving) and their LB all at the same time. And did it with a crock (Isak, brilliant on his day, but his injury record was atrocious), Wirtz (good player, but young and small, and needs time to adapt to a big physical EPL), Ekitike (probably their best signing, but he blew hot or cold). And they overspent on all of them. Factor in the aging Salah (who was a pale shadow of himself this season) and and aging and more error prone VVD (and a terrible CB partner), its no surprise they struggled. The dropoff of players like Gravenberch, MacAllister, etc, were the more surprising things.

We will have our entire spine intact, they aren't going anywhere, are just getting into their primes now, and we only need to upgrade/replace a couple positions, but depending on who stays/goes, they can be eased in unless we get someone like Kvara..

Completely agreed - I think 3 signings at most. A LW, LB/CB, RB.

USArsenal I think they panicked because of Salah's insane season. On paper, each forward was good, but they should've put more of that money towards the rearguard, and bought in a way that was consistent with their playing style/formation. They suddenly had 10s and wingbacks. Too much change

This, exactly. Slot tried to change the team up so it would be less "Klopp" and more him. Although his hand was forced with the departures of Diaz and Trent (and of course the loss of Jota). But yeah, they panic-bought, and spent a ton. I don't expect them to be as poor next season, but they need a better back line.

USArsenal Remember the stories of we were offered Isak and then decided to finalise the Gyokeres deal, not to delay (and perhaps given his injury record). Liverpool got Etikite and still pursued Isak. Which came back to bite them in the arse

I wonder how much more they are paying for it per year now. Doing the extension right after we won the title was a great idea.

Winning the league is going to have a huge impact across the board on commercial activities for us. No matter what we spend I doubt we need to sell any players at all in the foreseeable future for any reason, other than to free up squad places.
