Anyway today UEFA published a report on club finances, our wage bill ratio to revenue isn't that bad and it is actually still quite healthy.

There's around half a million per week dropping off the wage bill and large new sponsorships, which will likely be front loaded.

Cech, LIchtsteiner, Ramsey and Welbeck are all off in the summer, that's already over £300k a week removed from the wage bill. Then you have the likes of Jenkinson, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Elneny and Ozil who will probably all be available, and who knows who else isn't wanted by Emery.

The wage bill excuse will not stand in the summer.

Would like to see one of these studies compare apples to apples re the likes of CFC and MC instead of hiding behind the owner investments and non-interest paying loans. Simply put neither club is self sustaining despite over a decade under current ownership.

It's easy click bait for the rags, but the real test will be how determined the club is to actually clear the decks. As such IMO it means SFA if we only clear the fringe players but leave the big earners in place.

40m if we're in Europa, more if we get the CL.

I'm interpreting that as net spend, which continues to support our presumption that we have to sell (Ozil/Mkhi/Mustafi) to buy.

What is going on? The debt was cut, we sell all our season tickets at ridiculously high prices, what exactly is going on? I know our commercial deals were poor, but I thought that was getting rectified, starting this summer with the kit deal?

I think it makes sense given our wage bill. West Ham spend like a third of what we do on wages.

Not trying to justify it, but we've been handing out CL wages without being in the CL. No other EL club pays wages like we do apart from united but they've been a special case. Ozil, auba, mkhi, and lacazette alone cost a bomb in wages

If 2 of those guys weren't useless passengers we might be in a healthier position. Or better yet, if we could convert those 2 into 3 players that actually contribute we'd be in a healthy position

I'm assuming ornys figure accounts for transfer fee and wage amortisation. If we negotiate reasonable wages and 5 year contracts we can get 2 x 40-50m players. In that light a 50m signing takes around 15-20m out of the 40m budget. If we qualify for the CL that could get us 3 or 4 good players. If we fuck that up again we should pack in the club

If ornys figure is a hard 'transfer fee' budget, then we should just pack up the club now

Yup. We need to dump about 30m pounds of wages this summer, then that gives us some breathing room. And that includes some fan favorites. And we must absolutely make Champions League. It’s critical for financial planning even if we ultimately have no ambition to win that European Super Bowls.

If we qualify for Champs League, I am sure that transfer budget will rise by a round £20-25m pounds.

What would be great is if someone took that budget right now and put most of it into a Konate. And then waited for Champs League and sales to see what else we could do this summer.
