Part of me wishes Liverpool sign him. Their midfield would be Xhaka-Can.

Anyone got Xhaka's highlights in Switzerland's loss against Ireland?

I've seen Kroos's highlights vs England and they're impressive.

German newspaper BILD understand that Xhaka will join Arsenal this summer for £35m. Wages of £110k p/w.

The fee is £35.3m. BILD say the deal is "practically done". Wenger met Xhaka's family in Germany last week.

This would be immense. Not just having signed a perfect Cm, but having done it before the summer has started. I try not to hope, but I'll be a little disappointed if there isn't anything to this rumour.

Alright, I'm sold. Seems too specific to be BS.

Would be a great start to the summer.

If it happens I hope we still sign a winger and a striker. Without those all other signings wont matter.

I think we could manage with a striker without a winger, but neither and we're screwed.

I suppose if we moved Ramsey wide we could get away with it. Still think we'll fall short of challenging if we don't get in 2 new goal scorers into our front line though.

I'd be happy with just a striker if he's top drawer and push Aaron permanently to the wide areas. Maybe Wilshere can stay fit too for once.

That's a hefty fee. Interesting.

With such specific details and the fact it's also been reported by Sky Sports makes me a believer.

If it's true, that's 1/3 of my realistic wishlist fulfilled already.

Is Xhaka actually top class though? Looks like a bigger version of Coqulein from my limited viewings.

Seems much better on the ball than Le Coq from my limited viewings.

Don't think we'll make three big money signings, reckon there might be two even that is pushing it with us!

Also rumours of Ramsey wanting to leave doing the rounds, it wouldn't surprise me if we were trying to get someone knowing he might leave. Fits more in line with our thinking then just buying this guy and keeping our current options.

The immediacy and size of this transfer strikes me as one of two possibilities: Either Wenger's actively trying to find the perfect partner for Ramsey, and wants to give him a good go at cementing CM, or he's given up on him to some extent and has decided to push him out wide (and perhaps because of that, eventually out the club).

Where and why would Ramsey want to go? He's playing virtually every possible minute

Sounds like fan speculation to me because Elneny and Coquelin are doing well in his absence

Ramsey wanting to leave? He's barely good enough to start for us these days.

Are people surprised by the fee? Not only do we have a majority of our entire budget from not spending last summer but you will see unprecedented levels of spending by every club in the PL with the new TV deal.

It's an adequate fee even discounting the TV money. Xhaka has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave in 2017 for €35m, so obviously Gladbach will ask for a premium in the last window they can freely negotiate the fee.

One of the best CMs in the Bundesliga, CL and EL experience, captain for both club and country, younger than the likes of Wilshere, Campbell or Elneny. £35m is about par in my opinion

It's also possible that Gladbach are trying to get the deal done early so they can get their replacement in before the Euros kick off. They sold their best players like Reus, Dante, Ter Stegen and others in the last couple seasons and had to move early for replacements because clubs will haggle for their own players knowing that Gladbach are loaded.
