Don't know why people want us to go full midget, if we have any chance of winning it will have to be from a counter attacking defensive basis and scoring from a set piece.

It wouldn't work vs. Barca, the only way we're going to win this game is w/ pace & power on the ctr atk, this team doesn't provide that.

I'm not very excited, I must admit. I think we'll be comfortably beaten and because of our league progress I'm not really that agitated about us going through. I don't want us to lose, and I'd be overjoyed if we got a result in either leg, but mostly I'm hoping we keep our morale and avoid injuries.

This almost (but not quite!) feels like a couple of frustrating, pointless internationals in which all our best players have to risk their limbs at once.

You can almost hear the collective intake of breath in this thread as we wait for the hammer to fall 😆. I think we'll do better than expected with Cech putting in a man of the match performance. Theo will score a goal.

I'm a realist and like everyone else I've watched a bit of Barcelona this season. We might get a result at home but they're going to work us over two legs. They're a great side at the moment but that's not something you can take pleasure in when they're beating Arsenal.

The problem with our front three right now is Alexis is just trying to get into form, Giroud is just not scoring and Chamberlain hardly scores.

When you supplement a below top tier striker with a non-scoring winger it has a possibility of leading to problems like this.

Ozil has masked our deficiencies to an extent by creating chance after chance. We really need upgrades up-top this summer.

Just to explain. I want some hardworking players in there. I don't want Barca to rest. I want people who will track back and cover each other. I also want guys who will be organised. Ramsey in the midfield against Barca is just asking for wide open spaces that Rakitic and Iniesta will exploit. El Neny's one mission should be to transfer his scent onto Iniesta. That's it. Nothing else.

Our only slight hopes would be in the form of massive amounts of luck, superlative performances from our top men, unavailability of two out of three of theirs.

i just want us to lose by no more than 2 goals over the two legs. and then we can move on with winning the league. win the league, and our champions league story changes a bit next year as we can maybe attract two or three super quality players.

the problem is we're not very efficient at the moment in terms goal scoring or technique. every time ive watched barca this season theyve been giving up alot of chances on the break, but weve become so horribly wasteful at executing and finishing counters. im not sure our available staff could pull off the winner we scored in 2011 - maybe if jack and santi were in the side.

Messi has never scored a goal against Cech. I think it'll stay that way. I see Suarez being the man to do us most damage.

We might win the home leg, Barca looked leggy against Las Palmas. The front three were making bad decisions and the defence looked very vulnerable. It's definitely doable. Keeping them out at the Nou Camp will be the real challenge, could easily get hit for 5/6.

Your choice is should Ramsey or ozil go wide.

No chance of luck vs Barca. When ever we manage to give them a scare the refs screw us over to make sure they go through.

Yep, I'd play Ramsey on the right too if only Elneny had been bedded in quicker. There's no way he can start against Barca.

Can't wait!

We'll probably get beaten over two legs, but we can give them a good run if we turn up and play properly.

Also, if Barca play anything like they did agaisnt City at this stage of the competition last season then we can definitely get at them. They don't dominate like they used to and they're as vulnerable defensively as ever.

Looking forward to seeing what our players can do in a game when they're gonna be bang up for it.
