I do think people get too wrapped up in price. Bale and Neymar produced similar response when they moved for eye-watering amounts. Those transfers have been awesome in the final analysis.

This is Mourinho we're talking about. Mata came on as a sub yesterday and was substituted.

He'll be out of the club before September.

Gunner, clearly Mata will be gone. But a more sensible approach would be to keep Mata and bring in one of Sissokho, Kante or Diarra. As manager, that's what I would have done. United have been weak in defensive mid, and neither Carrick nor Fellaini will solve that. And Pogba isn't that guy either

Thats what I expect too. He showed at the euros that he's on a downward tangent and I think the Premier League isn't the best place to go when you are past your physical peak.

Pogba's a good signing but £100m is absurd. That sort of money should only be reserved for goal scorers.

It's even more absurd since Pogba was part of their own youth academy. This doesn't really reflect well on how United operate despite claims to the contrary.

Overall though they've had a good window if you ignore the financial element.

General

United have a weakness in defensive midfield and for the first time Mourinho hasn't got his trusted holding generals who can disrupt play and make it difficult to get through. But he has to subscribe to the United way which is open expansive football which explains why they've gone for Pogba. I think they will be a lot more open in order to overcome their struggles with scoring goals last season but we know this can open up a raft of problems. Mata or Herrera will be gone before the start of the season. It would be interesting to see how Zlatan coped with his lack of pace and the rigours of PL.

Playing both Rooney and Ibra as #10 and #9 respectively will make them slow and ponderous through the middle and dangerously dependent on crosses to score.

That problem could be solved if Mourinho has the stones to drop Rooney and play Pogba at his best position behind the striker. I don't foresee that happening however

That's actually my office building in the background, with is right next to the hotel, if only I knew he was there, could have warned him off. Incidentally that's where Barcelona stayed a few years ago for their CL final at Wembley, my colleague got a picture with Messi 🙁

Well he certainly doesn't have stamina he can't make it through one game in 7 days. Never mind 3 games in 9 days.
