I think the deal is in line with how we do things; it is the best deal for a player who isn't interested in being a back up here, but it certainly isn't the best deal for the club. Roma want the player, if there is an option to buy then we obviously don't mind selling, so we should have made them pay up now.

Unless we don't want to sell him to them because we don't really need the money they're willing to offer at this stage. I'm sure the option is above their current valuation, but if he has a stormer of a season it'll be worth it to take the option, and we'll get a decent enough price. If they still don't pay, then we have a good keeper on the books.

Think the deal suits us, and everyone else involved, just fine.

I would gladly take Mustafi for 20m, much better deal although I really rate Koulibaly.

Only €15 million too. Biggest transfer steal this summer. We could have used someone like him.

I never heard he went on strike. Didn't that deal happen very quickly after he had a training ground row with Bould?

Yeah IIRC that row came about because he didn't want to train and displayed very poor attitude, although Song did deny that.

Supposedly he was acting up during the preseason camp because he wanted to be sold. Wenger's comments about him in recent years seem to have hinted towards it too, but it's just conjecture to be fair.

Either way I'd give Song the same benefit of doubt that I give Cesc, which is none. I would probably have done the same thing if the best club in the world came calling and my own club didn't want to sell, but they did it to us so they can both feck off.

The club leaked claims about his behaviour after it was decided to offload him—seemed like a PR manoeuvre to justify selling off a player who'd been performing well to me at the time, and it was never ratified by any other source.
