Pep is not the right manager for us IMO. We are simply not rich enough to play the way he likes to play and expect to win trophies. Simeone or Ancelotti would suit us better IMO.
Think you guys are harsh on Van Gaal. He's likely to go down as one of the best managers ever. His Ajax side of the 90s was one of the most impressive sides I have ever seen. His sides are very organised but generally play very good football. He went to Bayern when they were in rumoil, changed their whole footballing culture, introduced youngsters (Muller, Alaba etc) into the team and got them to a CL final. He laid the foundations of the Bayern we see today (their football used to be very different from the current one).
He's trying to do the same thing at United (introducing a new philosophy, changing the way they play etc) but this is an even more difficult job than the Bayern one because of the competition in the PL and there is a lack of top quality footballers on the market these days, so he's forced to gamble on young talents or pay over the odds for decent footballers. Given the amount of money he's already spent, he's under huge pressure to deliver short term. Not sure they've got the team to expect big things though.
