I think that's a better approach personally. We need someone with certain attributes, not someone with a particularly well-known name.
I also think we need to bring in a sporting director over the next year or so; preferrably someone that Wenger can vouch for. His football knowledge is still pretty much second to none even if his decisions can be questioned. He needs to handpick someone who knows his shit, someone who'll still be here when Arséne decides it's time to leave. It's the only way to avoid a transition that'll end up in absolute disaster. We have zero people with any type of specific football knowledge in the upper hierarchy of the club, and it concerns me a great deal. It's been an issue ever since Dein left.
A quality sporting director would also mean that we'll maintain much of our identity in the future regardless of who the manager is. It means it's less of a big deal if we don't get the appointment right the first time.
