He can't get get a look in as regards a starting spot so that's going to hold him back to some degree, his confidence isn't yet high enough that he can show in 20 minutes a week that he should displace one of Wenger's nailed on starters.

It's still early in the season. We will get injuries and players will lose form. It's up to him to step up when that happens. I wouldn't worry too much yet.

Yeah, im sure he didnt expect to be a starter this season, so i see no reason for his confidence to be dented too much. He seems like a very positive and a smart guy and i have every confidence of him making it.

I didn't mean that his confidence is specifically dented by not being a starter, I meant that at the moment, in general, he isn't fully confident as a footballer

He's so hard on himself when he misses. Looks overly eager to make things happen too

His brain cashes checks that his feet can't cover too often. When I see the clown shoes moments from Chambo, I mainly see a guy who in his mind is already thinking about his second touch. He knows what he wants to do AFTER his first touch, is already there in his head, then messes up the first touch.

which is pretty worrying at his age. his touch is more inconsistent than middling technicians like kane, milner, sturridge, barkley, let alone the likes of sterling and wilshere

Seems to be in similar situation as Chambers, both need to play but aren't up to it yet. Where is he going to play once Wilshere comes back? He'll barely be third choice in his position.

Really? Having a proper run of games as a first choice player wouldn't give him confidence? Especially when he knows it's just to build up form and that he will definitely be back? Either way like I said, it not something that's going to happen in any case.

As I said before- Clearly lots of talent but about now that potential needs to result in more consistent performances.

His output needs to be more NOW. A maximum haul of 2 league goals in a season is just poor at the top level.

Right now Sterling is on another level.

We can't loan out Chamberlain, he gets minutes every game, starts a few and we're one injury away from him starting every match. He's still just 22, he has a lot of issues right now but he's better off trying to solve them here with us. Its not like he's rotting in the reserves.

Not when he's on the cusp of the first team at Arsenal already. An injury to Ramsey or Sanchez (heaven forbid) and he'll have that run in the first team that you're talking about.

He's first choice off the bench at the moment. I guarantee that sending him out on loan would be viewed negatively by him.

Shame he hasn't had a breakthrough yet. It's doubly frustrating when you consider how often he's hit the woodwork after a great move in recent times.

I don't really see the point of being impatient with him, undoubtedly he's terrified about his own Arsenal career by this point.

True. Was a throwaway comment mainly about the fact that what he needs more than anything is a run of games and confidence. Still don't think a club the size of ours with ambitions of winning things should have Ox as the first point of call when injuries hit in midfield and wide positions. He's potentially amazing but would rather he ironed out the issues in his head somewhere else. It won't happen with the thinness of our squad but that's another problem.

Wenger not signing a top class wide player is IMO partly down to Wenger not wanting to block Chambo's path into the first team. For me, that is even more maddening. Honestly, we should have signed a Reus/Götze/Griezmann last summer, and Chambo could then have had that loan move this upcoming January.

Exactly Rex. Ox is a top quality prospect but as of now he hasn't done enough to warrant a place in a team challenging for trophies. Only reason he does is because we haven't got a strong enough squad to be challenging for titles.

I'm not sure about that. I'd still take him over Navas.

Thing is I'm not even sure about that. Ox (potentially) has the higher ceiling but Navas is very experienced and knows his role. The guy has won quite a few trophies and probably has a few hundred appearances under his belt. He might not have the skills and tricks that Ox has but he won't make the same stupid youthful mistakes that Chambo does.

Plus City also have a few other top quality players both in the starting lineup and on their bench that can make a difference if Navas can't. We don't have that luxury. If Sanchez or Ozil are out then we're fucked.
