Lukaku and Stones double swoop it is then! 🙂

There's one guy like Vardy every season. He's been doing extremely well but he's never going to play and perform in a top club.

Mahrez looks like the real key player for Leicester every time I see them play. His skill set and age would make him an attractive transfer target if the price is reasonable.

Not to be pedantic but given that Vardy just broke an all time EPL record there really is nobody like him every season. He's not exactly good on the ball but his determination and work rate get him far, an Alexis minus all the talent basically.

Agree though that Mahrez is the superior player by far, wouldn't mind him here either.

----------Giroud
Alexis----Ozil----Mahrez
-----Bender--Ramsey
Nacho--Kos-Stones-Bellerin
-----------Cech

It's a spicy meatball

You know what I mean. Vardy's achievement is impressive and I think it's really cool that someone like him makes history, but it's a pointless record in itself. What matters is how much you perform across an entire season (and beyond that), not the first 10-12 games.

We see these guys all the time. Kevin Philips won the golden boot in Europe. Andy Johnson scored like 23 league goals in a single season for Crystal Palace. Beattie scored 25 for Southampton a few years before that. Bent had two or three 20+ goal seasons. Circumstances sometimes give reasonably talented players an opportunity to be extremely effective and then they go back to being midtable footballers.

It's an incredibly impressive feat though, all the more so for a team like Liecester. Also in fairness to him he looked like a handful even before the goals came along.

Vardy has a top class first touch, pace and quickness, is a good finisher, and makes great runs on the counter attack. He is not going to continue this insane scoring of course, but he will continue to score a fair few in any counter attacking team. As I said, playing for a better team adds other demands, and that would be a challenge for him.

I wouldn't mind either Mahrez or Bolasie.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit. I'm saying it doesn't merit a transfer to Arsenal.

The bar isn't exactly all that high in that position for us.

Yeah, I first noticed him in their 5-3 win, he tore United apart that day despite scoring only once. I don't think he is suitable for Arsenal mainly because he thrives on playing on the counter.

Yeah but he was impressive an entire season last year playing as a winger. To put things into perspective, he is only 2 goals away from Giroud's all time PL record in a season and we are not even in december yet.

Even though its an incredible achievement, we dont do flavor of the month signings like him. Lets leave that to Liverpool and Tottenham. ManU is lately in on the act too. The day we start buying Bolasies and Vardys is the day we're finished as a top club.

Vardy is definitely a good to maybe very good player. Decent in the air, direct, good finisher on both sides and unpredictable. I think he would be more of a winger here in a Ljunberg kind of style. Not sure that compliments the way we play now, to be honest.

Can't really see him as a starting striker for us.

Someone like Vardy would feast on Ozil's service....not sure Mahrez is the right match with Ozil / Giroud in the team.

He's one of those players who are too good a prospect for us to sign

Wengs will tell us how he tried to sign him in a few years

Can't say I've watched the bloke, but is an 18 year old what we need? He'd have to be special in that case, because I think we need more experience rather than youthful exuberance. We are most likely, hopefully, getting all of Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky off our books in the summer, and then there is certainly room for a kid like this, but only if accompanied by another ready made, top class central mid IMO.
