You're a real Archbishop of Banterbury.

Linked with Wanyama by John Cross. Would take him any day.

philipe auclair has said he's 99% sure we'll get at least 1-2 players in the janny tranny. we're being proactive apparently

Seems hard to believe.

Would be a pointless signing, he's no better than Coquelin so whats the point?  We need someone who is either better or offers a different skill set.  He ticks neither of those boxes.

What was Auclair saying in the summer? I can't remember if he was one of the people who were positive we'd bring in a bunch of players.

I'm getting my hopes up about Neves since we've reportedly watched him a bunch of times in the last month. Position, profile and skillset all fit down to a tee. Maybe we've finally decided to get serious and compete for the top talents. I think missing out on Martial to United might have hurt Wenger more than he wants to admit.

Jones-Rex are the new Burnsy-Biggus.

Didnt get involved in any rumors other than saying he was wavering slightly when the benz rumours were at fever pitch

When asked about Wanyama Wenger replied

I rate the player, but we are not on the case,” he told a news conference. β€œWe will be out there and seeing what we can do, but we have the whole of December to go and we are in a strong position in the Premier League

But we are short and it is important that we don’t lose any more players. On one side people want you to have seven strikers, on the other side when you rest one they ask you why you are not playing him.

He won't get any of them though.

They're different type of players. Wanyama is a box to box CM, a big physical unit that would help improve our lack of physicality in the middle of the park. Wanyama can fill in for Coquelin when he's not available or play WITH Coquelin when needed (ex: away against a top 4/CL rival or at the likes of Stoke).

There are people who think Ramsey is limiting us in the middle with his passing and also wouldn't mind signing Wanyama? Can't be the same posters, surely.

Carvalho would be a decent signing.

@[deleted] They can't be posters who want one defensive player and one offensive player in the middle, and don't care that the defensive one limited with his passing? Why not? (I don't want Wanyama and don't mind Ramsey in the middle, for what it's worth.)

I'll ask you this: Wanyama or Flamini? Case closed.

Good point.

I wouldn't say no to Wanyama in January, he'd be a good back up for our midfield and would certainly help us in terms of power and running. He's not a bad passer either, obviously not a Cazorla or Arteta type but he's not some useless Lee Catermole sort either. If you can't get a really top drawer mid and want an option in there he's the sort of player I think would add a dimension we lack currently.

Saying we wont sign players in July or December doesn't help sell papers in August and January.

Carvalho would immediately challenge Flamini and provide long term competition with Coquelin.

carvalho has just come back from long term injury. doubt we'll take the risk.

wanyama is a bit meh. don't think wenger wants this type of player in his midfield. if we get him and 1 other progressive midfielder with a high ceiling, and bin flameta, that would be good.

Auclair doesn't usually do much idle speculation. Think he might have named a couple of players who he knew we held an interest in, but nothing much else.

Just get Rabiot. Watched the PSG match at Parc des Princes today and he looked exactly like the guy we are missing in midfield. Can be a dynamic duo with Ramsey.

Verratti is a class above, wish we could just pay 50m to get him.

That's true though. Wish we could tempt him with more first team football. He is at best a fringe player there.

Rabiot is back on the bench the second Verratti is back, and he knows it.

he asked for a jan loan, so he does know he's not ahead of veratti, motta, matuidi. we should test their resolve

id take a punt on a loan for him in january... with the option to buy

even if we don't have an option to buy Rabiot, a 5 month loan would be great. we need a warm body in midfield as much as Klaus does one in his bed.

Unlike Klaus though, we can actually solve the warm body problem. πŸ™‚

Klaus, didn't your momma raise you to answer when people ask you a question?

Rex wrote:

Yes but unlike Klaus, Wenger isn't willing to pay to get a warm body.

I'm doing alright Dules. It was, err, kind of you to ask.
