Personally I don't get why fans get worked up by what footballers do on the pitch. Being impulsive doesn't make you a bad person, some people just find it difficult to control themselves during certain situations, it's wired in them. People who know such footballers are often shocked by their antics because they are totally different off the pitch. Suarez for example, is by all accounts, a very decent human being. He's loved by his team mates and is a model pro/husband/father.
There is another group of footballers that are always in control of what they do on camera but are horrible humans off it. Giggs is a perfect example of that. You also have rats like Fabregas who is always the perfect guy on camera. Would you really rather such people?
Point is, it's pointless hating someone based on what you see on camera especially for something they can't control/change - I find it irrational if you do. Of course when it comes to players from rival teams there is no rationality involved, they are all cunts and the enemy.
Besides, I believe people are slective in who they hate. Some players do the same things they hate other players for but they choose to turn a blind eye to it. I have seen Ronaldo for example, punch players, leaves his studs in to hurt others etc and I have not even mentioned all the diving, showboating to humuliate others (no wonder he's whistled in almost every stadium he plays) etc But the very people who hate Suarez for his antics still love Ronaldo. Neymar, who is everyone's favourite footballer, is every bit as bad as Ronaldo. That very Atletico team that people feel sorry for at the moment based their game around thuggery, they thrive on all the things we get incensed about when we play Stoke City.
I have come to accept most footballers are a bunch of cry babies, so I try to cut all that nonsense out and concentrate on the football.
