I'd say Henry winning both the Euros and the WC is worth about 10 La Liga titles. Probably throw in a couple of CL trophies too for good measure. 🙂

These Messi versus Ronaldo arguments are ridiculous if they're being based on trophies. For one thing, Messi has consistently been surrounded by 2-3 of the other top 6 players in the world during his time at Barca. On the other hand, he's probably faced tougher competition in Copa America than Ronaldo has in particularly this most recent Euro. This isn't basketball where one man can carry a city like Lebron. Your team and competitive context are so critical to the trophy aspect of the discussion

Ronaldo hasn't? Real Madrid almost always have better defenders and currently have a better midfield. Barcelona's front three is better, but even there Real Madrid has BBC. On league trophy in the time Ronaldo has been there is a terrible return for Real Madrid considering all they've spent.

I can counter that Messi has had a more stable system that can basically promote any amateur Barca manager seemlessly. As for best players, he currently has Iniesta, Saurez and Neymar. This is the highest concentration of attacking talent since the Galactico era. Contextually, one league trophy in the age of this dominant Barca team is probably not that bad. It doesn't compare to Kenya losing trophies to Leicester and lacklustre United teams

When some doctor sat on lots of proof of Spanish footballers using drugs, didn't Spain just choose to lock it in evidence forever? 😆 It's not like they're any better moral-wise.

It's most likely because there are some rumours about Messi not extending his contract which runs out in two years from now. Embarrassing behaviour by Barcelona but it's not like you expected any better from them, and like Quincy says Spain's sports ministry isn't any better

Yeah, the judge ordered the evidence to be destroyed in the Fuentes case, I think. It wasn't the Spanish government tbf.

Not officially but from the sounds of it at the time they certainly weren't unhappy about it. It's the same with every other sports ministry I know about, not even looking at Russia's or African departments the likes of Germany or France are doing the exact same thing, they cover their own athletes' shit at all costs.
