I’d be shocked if they did the Silmarillion. Seems like way too big of an undertaking.
It’s been over ten years since I read the books but I remember the appendices as very short, almost bullet point readings of the Third Age, mostly about the stewards of Gondor repelling various armies throughout the years. They went into no real detail at all. If thats how tvey are doing it they basically have a blank canvas.
I’ve seen young Aragorn floated around as a theory. Not sure how I feel about that.
