Quincy: Yeah, I tried watching a couple bad rips last year and wasn't hooked either. I went back a few months ago and fell in love with it though. The first season is really convoluted. There's a ton of plot, the creole dialects makes it hard to catc all of it, and on top of that almost everything is relevant in order to understand the bigger design of the show.
It's the kind of show where you really need to be alert, and I rarely watch tv like that anymore. It took a bit of time to get used to. What initially looked like a problem has become one of the show's biggest strengths though. There's ambition in both the intrigue and the casting that you have to go back to when Star Trek was good to find a matching example of.
