How did they glorify him though? I felt he was portrayed like the repulsive mass murdered that he was.
I really liked Narcos but mainly because Moura did a fantastic job and because I wasn't familiar with Escobar's story. It's a little draining watching a show where everyone's a dick though.

Is it that bad? A friend recommended it to me and I think it received rave reviews but I'm unsure whether I want to see Hollywood's approach to the GFC
It's good, you should watch it just for Christian Bale. Don't know why this is in the TV thread though.
I've spent the last few days catching up on The Last Ship. It's excellent. McSteamy's probably doing the best acting work of his career.
Wow, that sounds epic Klaus.
Haven't watched any telly since The Get Down, might check that out over the next few days.
What would people pick out of the following?
Narcos Sense8 The Last Ship Top of the Lake
I think those are my shortlist.
I thought Narcos was boring and Sense8 was utter rubbish. Top of the Lake on the other hand was terrific! I'd do that one first personally; it's pretty short.
And yeah, The Last Ship is really good! I didn't expect it to be. It basically reads like one long commercial for the US navy, but the acting, the writing and the production values are top notch. It even does science in a semi-believable way initially. It's like a more realistic take on the global pandemics you see on shows like The Walking Dead... zombie apocalypse minus zombies basically, which makes it a lot more interesting in this day and age.
Thanks Klaus, sound advice. I'm always quizzical about what the Wachowskis do next, but both Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending were a pretty awful mess so I don't really expect quality.
While I'm picking, anyone watched the second season of Les Revenants?
Been wondering what to watch for a while as Narcos did not interest me. Think i will check out Top of the lake. Thanks guys
Burnsy: Yeah. I know Sense8 has been received fairly well, and I really wanted to like it; not least because it had some interesting LGBT themes that felt close to the creators' own personal experience. But it takes less than two episodes for it to overplay its hand. And instead of something that feels intriguing and genuine you end up with some ill-written pseudoscientific mumbo-jumbo with all the trappings of banality that you've come to expect from those two.

I meant in terms of the blatant stupidity and corruption of Wall Street and the financial sector. I enjoyed it.

Yeah, "trappings of banality" sums them up. I can't stand the way they manage to reduce what should be epic themes or source material to a John Hughes level of kitchen sink dramedy-light-action-adventure in every film.
You're the Worst is great. Can't believe I hadn't hard about it until now.
Gotta say I really found Sense8 entertaining. Beautiful imagery, great action scenes and good acting.
Stranger things is amazing, finished it last night.
i dont get the fuss with narcos. its pretty pedestrian, i kind of struggled to get through season 1
really looking forward to luke cage. all the buzz abou it has been really positive
I'm curious about it. I liked Jessica Jones and Daredevil, the trailer looked good, it has gotten some great early reviews, but I just think his character didn't seem interesting in Jessica Jones.
I like it. I can get why you didn't its far from a well put together show but its taking some very big swings. That alone makes it more interesting show to me than most of these anti-hero shows on now. It also looks great which helps keep you entertained while it goes off the rails a bit. I respect that the Wachowskis at least take risks.

Yeah its excellent. How far in are you?
I'm in the middle of season two. Perfect for binge-watching.
