Qwiss I'm the same and while I like the Succession music the visuals were pretty dull so its not one I'd be sitting through.

I know what you mean. It's the same case with me with every show. After the novelty of a good theme song/opening credits wears off, I just can't sit and watch it anymore and would rather just go straight to the action.

Yeah it's heating up. Just finished episode 7. Some really snakey, backstabbing shit has already been going on and looks like it'll get even worse.

I actually use the musical score for TV shows when I'm reading fiction, and sometimes non-fiction too. Succession is one of the ones I sometimes go to.

Oh mate, you must find it somewhere - I think it was my favourite show of the previous decade. Great television, with a perfect ending. The original Danish/Swedish version, mind. I haven't seen any of the international remakes.

Not worried about finding it, my service has pretty much everything that is even semi popular. I'll add it to my list. It keeps growing, at this point I don't think I'll ever manage to completely get through everything on there heh.

Speaking of Danish shows, I did add another one not too long ago that was apparently good called the Killing that I haven't watched yet. It also has an English cast version which also apparently wasnt as good as the original.

The first season of the Killing, the Danish one, is one of my favourite seasons of television ever. It's absolutely brilliant television. Diminishing returns thereafter, but all very watchable. Again, not watched other versions.

on a related note, ive been rewatching breaking bad, and that might be the best show ever that had basically no intro theme/scene. the periodic table thing lasts what, 5 seconds?

goon — The Wire and True Detective (S1) come to mind as well for great intro music.

The Wire uses the same song (lyrical/theory) but it’s made new each season by a new artist recording a variation.

Badalamenti's theme for TWIN PEAKS is perfect. The best theme music for serials throws you into the emotional zone of the show in that way. X-FILES was another.

QuincyAbeyie industry keeps getting better. season 3 has been the best so far. kit Harrington and the chick that played Sally on Barry have rounded the cast out nicely. it vaccillates between billions and succession in terms of quality, but S3 is closer to succession. I can see this season making it one of HBOs more buzzy shows, as it's flown under the radar a bit until now

To take it down a notch in quality, the missus and I binged The Perfect Couple over the weekend. It's actually pretty good. Excellent cast and gorgeous locations. If you're after a decent murder mystery with some rich people being awful, and a bit of sly comedy thrown in, give it a go.

So, I'm midway through season 3 of Succession. A few thoughts.

@Mirth the show continues to draw you in. Wouldn't say it's one of the best I've ever watched but it's very, very good. Pretty much a shitty family to be part of, can't believe they way these lot treat each other. Even Gregg is a little bitch who will screw you over given the chance. I think Tom is the only person in that family who I kind of like even though I thought he was a dick to Gregg at the start. By season 2/3 he was the only person who actually seemed like they cared about anything other than themselves.

@QuincyAbeyie regarding the music, I think some people must not have watched the first season over again and are basing in on the last couple episodes of season 1 and later seasons. Those last couple episodes actually switched up the music quite a bit. Indeed season 2 and so far in season 3 I find myself watching it and thinking the composition during and across episodes matches the mood each time whereas those first 3 or 4 episodes were so lazily done in comparison. Think it might only be noticeable if you end up binging the whole series because what felt annoying at the start turned into something that works quite well because of the way they varied things. If anyo e is planning on rewatching it, do it whilst thinking about the music and it drastically improved as the show developed.

The sheer density of human cruelty in the writing, particularly the second last season, was pretty jaw-dropping. It's a comedy of course, but the Roy kids and the Roy coterie end up a bit like a taxonomy of different ways in which abuse reproduces abuse.

Jo and I happened across the karaoke bar episode last week, was struck by how awfully Shiv and Kendall came across. Of course this is buttressed by the comedy genius that is Connor singing... well, never mind. I don't want to ruin it for Willie.

They are fucked up man. Insanely so. They way they keep stabbing each other in the back all the meanwhile fucking thenselves up in the process. Have to say, I know Tom is looking out for himself for thr most part, but he did seem to genuinely care about Shiv. Aside from him, someone who has kind of grown on me, though he's still a creep, is Roman. Yeah the guy is fucked and shit, but he is not as backstabbing and evil as the others. Oh and Connor is nice as well although he's not one of the main characters. But he comes across better than the rest, almost for the sinple reason he doesn't give a shit about their whole company nonsense.

Soon as I saw this post I skipped the rest because I thought there might be spoilers in there but watched that episode a couple days ago. My word, how heartless. And the fake sadness in the next couple episodes all the while Shiv trying to sabotage the others just to be a figurehead even though it means their family looses control. I've always thought Ken was a bit weird. I get he's power hungry and wants to get his way no matter who he hurts (sending his father to jail, bringing in Stewy and the others to take the whole thing over from his pops, the shitty hit pieces after his death). Then you have that season in between where he's docile as fuck and yes manning his dad because he saved him from that manslaughter possibility. He still went and tried to screw everyone, despite his dad having that shit over him. And the way he gets so pumped and super excited talking like he's changing the world and shit. Give me a break. He's annoying as fuck.

Think I hate that Mattsen guy the most though. The guy is the worst. I'm currently about to watch the final episode and I can't help but think he'll end up fucking Shiv over and the whole family gets fucked. Ken is out there deluding himself into thinking he can keep the company, Roman having some kind of a nervous breakdown after everything, and Shiv thinking she's about to finally be crowned CEO. Meanwhile the tech Zlatan, without the charisma, is gonna fuck them all. Great stuff.
