Season 3 of Slow Horses is great. S2 was a bit of a let down but this one is better. Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden in particular are great, but the supporting cast is also excellent - Sakia Reeves and Kristin Scott Thomas and Freddy Fox really get into their characters.

Jackson Lamb is one of the best spy characters shown on TV for so many reasons.

Asterix binged the first season over the holidays and really enjoyed it. Oldman as a washed up MI5 agent with Malcolm tucker characteristics is eminently watchable

This is promising. The book is utterly brilliant, and I'm reading his second one now - Lola in the Mirror - which, so far, is also brilliant.

If the show is even half as good as the book, and the review does seem promising, then this will be great telly.

Finally circled back to episode 1 of Poker Face last night.

Hadn't clocked that Natasha Lyonne was an American Pie alumni - and feel a bit silly for not making that connection, even if it's over 20 years old now. Anyway, that's irrelevant, what is relevant is how much fun the first episode is - and how engaging her central performance is. Pretty brutal opening sequence and Adrien Brody was as reliably entertaining as ever (sidebar: still gutted we're not going to get to see him taking the Lakers to the top in Winning Time.)

Gazza M Yes it is. An impossible act to follow for Pizzolatto, but everything about it, from the perfect cast to its refusal to fully commit to the Lovecraft American Gothic bit and its remnant ambiguity, has dated extremely well. A masterwork for the archives.

I re-warched it again recently too and it really was/is great tv. There's a new (4th?) season coming out soon too with two female detectives as leads (Jodie Foster and someone else I can't recall). Hopefully it might be OK. Season 3 was decent as well.

Starts tonight, I believe. Sky Atlantic are showing the first episode at 2am. I thought the first series was great, didn't watch the next two but will be watching this one.

Daz Shit, S4 is actually launching today by the looks. Set in Alaska. Not Pizzolatto writing this time as it turns out, but some ring-ins who are supposedly riffing on the first season, trying to create a "mirror image" of it. Critics seem to love whatever episodes they've been given access to. Sounds promising …

RocktheCasbah as @Daz called out, Season 3 is good, albeit still a ways off Season 1. I think it's worth watching as it has some great cinematography and Mahershala Ali is solid in it.

The new season of Fargo seems to be back to its best as well. Only watched three episodes, but it's off to a great start.

Now I don't expect anything that happens in America to make sense (particularly on a day wherr Trump looks set to be in the running for President again), but how the actual fuck did the Bear win the Emmy for Best Comedy? Sure, I'm on record as not being a big fan of the show, but I did watch about 6 episodes and in that time, not a single laugh was produced. All I can say is that show must get funny as fuck from episode 7 onward.
