There's definitely a reason he wants to spend time in Numenor … that'll surely be a big part of season two or three, can't see how they make this series without that being one of the big plot arcs.
Over all I think they made a decent stab at it. The fact they don't have the rights to the names, characters and events from THE SILMARILLION is incredibly bizarre and very poor management by Tolkien's estate.
it feels like the PES 4 version of tolkien. instead of sauron we got snoring, and instead of galadriel we got gordylol. leaving aside all the lore tweaks, im pretty unimpressed with it overall. the cinematography is just too blah for something with this budget. aside from some lush establishing shots of valinor, numenor, and khazadum the show looks and feels weirdly low rent
halbrand/sauron teleporting from the southlands to eregion, and just wandering into the workshop of the 2nd most famous craftsmen of all time, and blurting out some inane suggestions leading to the rings of power being created, revealing himself as sauron, then teleporting back to mordor, all in the space of about 30 minutes. just bizzare choices all around. the show is full of avoidable sillyness like this
