Just watched From Dusk Till Dawn first season. Not sure why I did the film was shit the show is even worse.

It’s a bit tough to get into at first because you’re thrust into this living universe with moving storylines on different planets. But within about 5 episodes everything is familiar and the bigger picture is clearer. What’s great about it is that the politics have real consequences on the populations. I feel like you have to be into space based sci-fi to get something out of it initially. The world, or I guess universe in this case, that they set up was pretty much all that was required in order to get me to persist.

The Expanse has inspired me to re-watch Battlestar Galactica, the first season really is good TV. As I get deeper into it though I'm having to work harder to supress what I know is coming.

Finished the first season of October Faction. Garbage TV should've known as much when I saw it was directed by a guy named Director X.

The Expanse is Amazon unfortunately, unless Netflix still has rights to the earlier seasons.

Haven't watch a lot of Netflix lately, so many of these are "old". Unbelievable, Godless, When They See Us, The Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor, Queen's Gambit are the ones that spring to mind. American Crime Story is there in some countries I think. Also heard that Cobra Kai is supposed to be really funny, but haven't watched it myself.

I seem to remember you having watched Better Call Saul, but if not, that.

Is Queens Gambit actually good? The trailer makes it look awful.

Haven't seen the trailer. Thought it was pretty good, although probably my least favorite out of the shows I mentioned.

Queens Gambit is visually appealing but sadly predictable. The story could have been told in half the number of episodes. Worth a watch but would definitely call it overrated.

Lol. The director originally developed it as a movie, but Netflix thought a better way to make money would be to turn it into a 7 part series given how much material she’d shot.

Think Jones has seen Ozarks. Mind hunter is on there isn’t it?

Stranger Things is alright, feels a bit directionless at times. Ozark was much better than I expected, and Netflix are doing them the rare honor of finishing the show instead of cancelling it.

Queens Gambit
Ozark

Shows like Stranger Things and Cobra Kai have great 80s nostalgia, even better than that crazy WW84. But once it wears off, you realize that they’re a bit empty

Kobra Kai is decent fun and nostalgia but decends into a trashy teen show in season 2.

But I personally really like Stranger Things, season 1 in particular. Season 2 was too similar to season 1 but without the mystery and magic so didn’t really work. Season 3 wasn’t popular but I personally enjoyed the Gremlins vibe they had going on.

Stranger Things gave me Prison Break vibes. They executed S1 well. And then it fell off a cliff like Coyote

OZARK is really quite good, writing is very implausible at times but it held my attention. QUEEN'S GAMBIT was good at the start but it tailed off with a lot of irrelevant and unfulfilled subplots I found a let down.

The new THE MANDALORIAN is worth a look, they sold me season three at least, a few interesting developments, easily the coolest-looking Star Wars "property" and I find the linear, zero-B-plot writing very relaxing.

Best thing on telly is SUCCESSION if you haven't watched it. Now that's a well written show. It's so good it makes most other things look like pure shit.
