Yeah it's not exactly a surprise when it arrives, I guess I didn't spoil the "how" which is the main question of interest.

Season two is definitely disappointing me.

The first couple of books are really fun, never got around to the third, I guess one day.

Bit suss on "the two Davids" becoming showrunners of an English language version of a distinctively Chinese series, though, that was half the charm of the books.

The novels are as good as science fiction gets! I doubt this will ever be made though. It would cost way too much. The scope of the story is so insane that it would require thousands of different sets and an unprecedented amount of top-of-the-line cgi, very little of which would be reusable. It's not like The Expanse for instance, where they have the Rocinante and United Nations and the Nauvoo and such that they can always return to, and it's not like Game of Thrones either where they can just film on existing locations. And unless they whitewash it there's probably not going to be enough mass appeal for a chinese-centered story either.

I have this feeling Benioff & Weiss are just going to threaten to ruin something dearly beloved every couple of years for a while, then quietly cancel their over-ambitious project.

Glad they're not the ones adapting DUNE.

Really looking forward to Dune. I've liked all that I've seen from Villeneuve so far, even Sicario which I think is very disliked on here.

I don't think Villeneuve's version will be particularly exciting—I'm expecting a fashy, aesthetically consistent end product aimed at a bit of franchise potential. But I think DUNE could be the basis of something a lot more daring (not that it will be).

The Boys season 2 started off kind of slow, but episode 3 was great. Interesting direction they're doing with the member of the Seven.

I liked the show much more than the comic, but I'm a bit dubious, will still check out the second season though.

Yeah, but for some reason I didn't even think of that until I watched episode 3. 😆 Agree about the casting, and it reminded me that I need to catch up on You're the Worst.

Didn't realise The Boys was back. It's about time, I watch probably over a dozen shows yet it feels like almost everything I watch is in it's off season.

Thats because production stopped for lockdown. A couple of things probably would have been back by now other wise.
