Was the child supposed to be Yoda? If so, that timeline doesn't work.
I take it you haven't watched the entire show, but here are some semi-spoilers. Nothing big.
It's not Yoda. The species (and force users in general were thought to be extinct after the events of the old trilogy. That's why The Child is such a big deal. It's an unknown species (since Yoda was thought to be the last of his kind and the people in the show havent heard about him) and jedi training stopped after the siths fell so jedis are no more and people who could move things with their mind was thought of as a myth.
Mandalorian is kind of like what wonder woman was to DC. After the shambles of the mainline 7/8/9 trilogy (and in the case of DC, batman v superman and justice league), its the only piece of content that people seem to view in a positive light, even though it was pretty middling. Disney will probably make it the cornerstone of whatevers next for star wars
In the next Star Wars trilogy they've said that there will be a completely new story. I think that's the only sane choice, what comes next needs to be free from the shackles of the Skywalker saga. Also in terms of TV the Obi Wan show with McGregor will probably be huge. He's the only thing people remember kindly from the prequels.
